RDX's 'D' mode vs 'S' mode?

Greets All,

Question regarding the 'D' and 'S' modes on the RDX. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

I've had my RDX for a few days now. As you know, when the car is put into 'S' mode the manual gear shift doesn't kick in until you make your first shift with the paddles. My question is does 'S' mode differ from 'D' mode if you don't touch the paddles.

It feels to me like the gears are held longer in 'S', but part of me wonders if this is a placebo effect. Does 'S' mode cause more aggressive/sporty automatic shifting?

Thanks for your input.

Quick answer to your question: yes.

It's not placebo effect, it's different programming on the automatic transmission.
