RDX Navigation System

I know the Nav system has VR, but is it a touch screen too? The reason I ask is that in the photos there is that "iDrive" like knob. I just hope Acura aren't using that as their Navi input...

Regards
Bob.

from what i think, it will sure be a touch screen, since all acura (TSX, TL, RL and etc) all had touch screen and for a price of 33,000 plus, no touch screen will be a shame.........and that i drive thing is just one more way to navigate the screen i think

I don't think the RDX navi will be a touch screen.

If you look at the navi pics on the www.acura.com website you can see from certain pictures that the screen goes in a few inches. the positioning looks like it'd be a bit of a lean over to reach the screen, too. (which wouldn't be that safe to operate while driving)

I'm guessing that's why that knob control sticks out kind've far

no touch screen

I've never actually posted here, been more of a lurker just gathering information. I came by this thread and realized that i could actually contribute. I work at an acura dealership and the sales car manager said that the rdx wouldnt be a touch screen because the iDrivelike clickwheel from the 05-06 rl has been immensely popular. Apparently, all future tsxs, tls, and mdxs will be fitted with similar click wheels.

....like posters have said above, all future Acura models will lose the touchscreen. That said, the "idrive" like rotary knob (similar to the one in the new RL) is shockingly easy and ultra-intuitive to use, contrary to my previous assumtion!!! .....I've attempted to describe how it works in the following thread: (see my post towards the end "That's true sir"

No touch screen, though the knob is indeed very intuitive and easy to use. I highly recommend going to a dealership and trying out the one on the RL just to get a feel for it. You'll find that it takes no instruction at all, unlike the iDrive or even the MMI that the European manufacturers have developed.

I believe the RDX's Nav system will be similar to the RL's system which is very, very easy to use either with the knob or with voice commands.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions on looking at the RL's Navi. I went and tried it out, and I concur that it is pretty easy to use. It's much better that those I tried in the BMW and the new Golf GTi.

I got to see one in action. The voice command is great. The guy demoing it for me just spoke the address and it had no problems plotting the course. Also, the dial seems easy to use and intuitive. Plus I don't have to worry about finger prints, smudges, or scratches on my screen now.
