RDX Leaking Coolant Near Turbo Charger

Reason #4 why these cars are POS.

My RDX has been slowly leaking coolant for almost a year. Failed the pressure test. Still No exhaust fumes getting into the coolant. I performed the exhaust gas test for the 3rd time with nothing.

It looks like the coolant is leaking around the head where it meets the turbo charger. I have heard of this happening. I'm probably gonna but it some type of head gasket sealer. Tired of this car. it's been nothing but problems.

I hope my cats aren't clogged because my car has had awful performance the last few weeks. I'm gonna lose my ass on this car.

Might be this o-ring, the guy in the video said the coolant leaks across the top of the exhaust manifold like in your photo.

I hope it's just the o-ring and not something more serious. This is a tough high heat environment for an o-ring so I can see how this one can fail and start leaking over time. Looks like kind of pain to replace but a cheap part to replace and a much better problem to have than a failing head gasket or cracked exhaust manifold.

Next time I place an order for a part I'm going to get one of these o-rings to have on hand.

In that video, he references part number
O-Ring (13.6X3.8) - Acura (91316-PHM-003

However, the diagram above mentioned part number:
O-Ring (13.5X3.5) - Acura (91311-PRB-A00)

I cant seem to find the diagram on any Acura parts websites. Can anyone verify which one it is?

Tonight, I used my endoscope to take a picture and my worst fear came true; the outlet pipe from my exhaust manifold is rusted and leaking.

I'm going to watch the coolant levels for the next few months, but in the spring I will be getting rid of my 2007 Acura RDX. This stinks, but the time has come.

I've seen a lot of photos of corrosion in the rear of RDX gen 1 engines and have wondered why so much corrosion and it finally came to me the top mounted intercooler and the under the hood air scoop that supplies air to the intercooler also supplies road spray air directly through the air scoop and over the top and rear of the engine. In states where road salt is in use I can now understand why there's so much corrosion that can occur in the rear of the engine. I've never been a fan of the top mounted intercooler for many reasons and this is just another reason the intercooler placement is not an ideal location. You can find used exhaust manifolds in good shape for a reasonable price but the labor time to replace is substantial. I'm wondering if there's any way to replace this water pipe without removing and replacing the exhaust manifold. This type of tube that pressed into a hole in the manifold is similar to an oil pick up tube that pressed or driven into an oil pump.

I never considered it from that perspective, but your reasoning makes a lot of sense. Living in Michigan has certainly contributed to rust issues, and during routine maintenance, I've noticed that many bolt heads are snapping off with minimal force. Numerous components have become rusted and brittle over time. Although I still enjoy driving my 2007 RDX, it's beginning to show its age despite having only 170,000 miles.

Currently, I'm dealing with a persistent parasitic drain that has been troubling me for the past few months. Additionally, one of the TPMS control modules (not the sensors in the wheel) recently failed, I have a leaking high-pressure power steering hose, and now this latest issue. I mentioned to my wife that I'm almost hoping for one more significant problem to justify moving on from this vehicle. It seems tonight I might have received my answer, unfortunately (or fortunately).

Once we purchase a new vehicle, I will be taking over her 2013 RDX as my daily driver. I'm really interested in a 2018-2020 Acura MDX Advance, but with three daughters, a Honda Odyssey is also a strong contender. Decisions, decisions...

Checkout the 12-15 Pilots, they are nowhere near as fast but are definitely tanks.

My partners RDX is in its last two years of life with us we believe. She still leaks a little coolant but the rest is reliable with no codes.

The 2022 MDX is a nice car that does have a pep in its step.

I had a leak in a turbo that we mitigated with one of those headgasket sealers. The driving principal behind that stuff is that exposure to air of up to temperature coolant will result in it turning to glass. In our case it sealed up a leak in the turbo cooling jacket. Maybe it will work for you?

Turbo manifold leak issue

So I recently stumbled upon this thread having the same issue of a leak on top of my turbo manifold. I had a shop replace the turbo manifold with new gaskets and o ring but it's still leaking. The guy at the shop said it's leaking from on top of the manifold somewhere but not from the manifold where the new gasket was installed. Does this make sense? Is there another place above the turbo manifold besides the gasket that could be leaking coolant? It's a very slow leak that barely shows up but you can smell it and see it in the passenger side corner of the turbo manifold. When I look at the old manifold removed there were leaks from the curved metal outlet nipple and from the o-ring on the driver side. But there is also a large build up of dried old coolant in the center of it possibly from above somewhere? Any thoughts would help. Thank you.

Turbo manifold heat shield cover

Also does anyone know the part number for the heat shield cover that sits right behind/on top of the manifold? Thanks
