Predictions: 2009 RDX

Lt me preface this by saying that I realize the 2008 RDX just came out, so it's way toosoon to know for sure what will be new/improved on the 2009 model.

With that said, what would you all like to see added/changed/improved for model year 2009?

I'll start with my wish list......

1)Power passenger seat
2)A slight power boost (like 20-30hp) to keep up w/ the 2009 Infiniti EX (which is supposed to have over 290hp)
3)Rear seat A/C vents
4)Slight retuning of the suspension for a less busy ride over rough/broken pavement (I'm not saying they should turn it into a Lexus RX, but a little less jostling over rough pavement would be nice......maybe they'll add the MDX's adjustable magnetic shocks at some point)
5)Available Keyless Access/Start

That's pretty much it for me. I think adding much more (e.g. power rear hatch ala MDX or huge glass sunroof ala Cadillac SRX) would increase the cost and weight of the vehicle significantly. FWIW, given Acura's history of updates on existing vehicles, I think we have a decent chance of seeing 1, 2 & 3 sometime (relatively) soon.

the 2009 RDX will not have any major changes, maybe memory seats. But the 2010 RDX, if still around will probably get a bunch more stuff as it is it's mid-model change.

You'd have to go with the CRV coming out soon if you want diesel. The RDX's sporty nature and diesel's less than invigorating driving character do not mix, so its not going to happen.

2008 RDX already has memory seats. Maybe you meant power passenger seat??

As for the 2009, www.vtec.net (not always the most reliable source), lists the RDX as getting a mid-cycle refresh in 2009. I'm uncertain if that means the 2009 model or 2010. Either way, it's always possible. The TSX went on sale as a 2004 model and got a significant refresh for it's 2006 model year.

Either way, something tells me that Acura will be adding more features to the RDX sooner rather than later due in part to the sheer number of new small luxurious crossovers hitting the market within 1-2 years (Infiniti EX, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLK, VW Tiguan). If not, they'll likely have to deeply discount the RDX to keep sales from stalling.

I know there has been much speculation, but according to this thread the suspension is the same for '08:

I just saw that...interesting. Basically no reason to buy an '08 really. Glad I got my '07 back in February!

Hmmm... question is, are you looking to change your Honda Pilot in a years time, at the end of 08'?

I see no point in wishing these things and ask for input, if you are just "fishing" for interesting response to cure your boredom.

Well, if yes, you got the response...

Seriously, for all you know, Acura will have phased out the RDX and bring out a new model, ... no way, some may say...

My point being, why predict so far ahead, and the 08' has hardly hit the dealer showroom or roll out the factory door?

And if you are hoping to get that "perfectly" equipped car... you might as well go right up to the MDX, which should have most of what you hope for in amenities...

On another note though... it would be cool to have a high torque hybrid system coupled to the current drivetrain, to ease the issues with city driving gas mileage...

I wanted an RDX sized luxury vehicle with better mileage. Its not always about performance. There should be more engine choices.

Yes I am

Not fishing, just getting feedback on what RDX owners/enthusiasts would like to see added to the RDX. As I stated before, it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that someone w/ Acura checks these message boards to help gauge consumer interest and determine future product feature content

Now you're just being silly. Acura isn't going to phase out the RDX anytime soon

My point being, why predict so far ahead, and the 08' has hardly hit the dealer showroom or roll out the factory door?

Why not? I certainly don't see the "harm" in it. I truly didn't mean to get so many people irritated with my post. FWIW, of all the message boards I post on, this seems to be one of the most uptight and unfriendly.

And if you are hoping to get that "perfectly" equipped car... you might as well go right up to the MDX, which should have most of what you hope for in amenities...

Or I could possibly go w/ the Infiniti EX which should offer keyless access and many other features the RDX lacks as options. Truth be told, I like the "feel" of Honda/Acura vehicles, so I would prefer to stick with the RDX. However, that doesn't stop me from wishing the RDX offered more feature content.

FWIW, I originally looked at the MDX, but after closer examination and 2 test drives, I now prefer the RDX overall. The RDX seems more engaging to drive and the fit and finish appears quite a bit better overall. For instance, in almost every MDX I looked at the door panel wood trim didn't line up w/ the dash wood trim. There were also jagged visible "mold lines" on the plastic trim on the steering wheel where it meets the leather and on the A/C vents. I was also less than impressed w/ the power/performance when compared to my Pilot (felt only SLIGHTLY quicker).

On another note though... it would be cool to have a high torque hybrid system coupled to the current drivetrain, to ease the issues with city driving gas mileage...

That would be great! Too bad it won't happen anytime soon. Honda has stated many times that they feel they can get better performance (MPG) out of diesels in their light truck platforms.

mach 1 with afterburners. Just kidding.

I hope Acura do a better job of integrating the iPod, I would like to see art work on display and navigate my song listing on the disply.

I also would like to see a better HFL. One touch transfer or auto transfer would be nice. Also, would like the console address book to for allow download of Address book from PDA or Phone.

I wish the nav system actively show Starbucks, bust buys, home dopots and whatever I have as active display. Acura and Honda dealerships is of no interest to me.

A 6 MT would be an automatic trade in for me, but I won't hold my breath for that to happen.
