Power steering pump overhaul, won't circulate
Power steering pump overhaul, won't circulate
I just rebuilt my '07 RDX power steering pump. I'm 99% certain I did everything correct. I've got the complete OEM shop manual to follow and I used OEM Honda seals. The job is messy but not complicated. I replaced every 0-ring and the one shaft seal the manual states for a rebuild. I even bought a new drive shaft bearing but didn't mess with it. It was fine and everything else looked good. It was leaking which is why I rebuilt it. After I installed it, I filled the reservoir with one bottle (12 oz. size) and almost 1/2 bottle more of Acura PSF. I first got in the car and turned the wheel a few times to get the fluid moving throughout the system. However, the fluid level did not drop in the reservoir and then started gurgling up and out of the reservoir spilling all over. I went through this a few more times but with someone else turning the wheel while I kept pressure on the reservoir cap to prevent leaking. Nothing worked "manually" so I attempted several (2-3 seconds each) starts and still no movement with the fluid. I then let the motor run for about 20 seconds and still there was no pump movement. I opened the pump cover and there's fluid inside. Then I removed the drive belt and tried to get it to prime by spinning the flywheel with no luck. My last try will be tomorrow to put it back on the bench and makes sure the pressure control valve is working fine (it was perfect, spring and slide motion all good). Any ideas how to prime this pump???
thanks!
thanks!
