Potential Newbie

I am considering a 2010 Awd tech, I have a couple of questions:

1. Is the ride that uncomfortable as they say, and does the
engine sound " tinny" or performance oriented.
2. How is the comfort for long distances, is the back seat
roomy enough, does the air work well back there as there
is no vents.
3. How is the nav since it is dvd based and is the stereo
worth the additional dollars verse the base stereo.

have you test driven one yet? I think you could answer alot of questions for yourself - the ride is a highly subjective topic here so its basically going to be up to YOU not general opinion. the lack of rear HVAC - i travel alot with a full car and my buddies always complain about lack of AC (or heat). So. thats where i stand. this truck needs to have it. it doesnt.

I think the ELS sucks even tho it gets a lot of publicity. i find the base stereo sounding better in many of the same circumstances. I think the center channel kills the sound up front, but you gain rear twiddlers for the rear seats & a better sub. To me, id rather have the best sound up front. Too much of the audio gets channeled thru the center speaker and it sounds very awkward up front; all the balancing in the world couldnt get it sounding even, for me, up there. Take your favorite music, and play it in both models. The problem is nothing is encoded in surround sound unless its specifically otherwise; the artificial surround (use of the center and thinning out around the car) just doesnt work. If they put the 2nd gen ELS in (which is ALOT better than the one in the RDX) id feel differently, but when you consider a garmin for 100 bucks or so you can save yourself 3k, get a more versatile nav & not have to worry about missing out on a stereo. Again, not sure why, but the RDX still uses acura/hondas older nav unit. The unit in the TL is just THAT much better, incorporates your cell phone etc.

go test one, drive it for a while.

The ride is stiff but not "uncomfortable" if you will. The RDX feels more like a well tuned sports sedan than a CUV. Some like the feel, some don't. Go test drive one as Mike said. Personally I LOVE the way the RDX drives and am willing to sacrifice the stiffness in return for it's sporty handling and road feel.

completely agree with Carbon... i love the way it rides... granted, me and my wife dont like "old man's" type cars which we kinda described the GLK and the Q5... too quiet, too "refined"... ... and also agree with mike -- after so many posts and test drives for me, i went with "feel"... in fact, now im wondering what car has the same "feel" as the rdx... in the mkt for a new car too next year once we move to the burbs... the current rdx will become wife-y's car... she loves it too btw...

My guess is the new Acura ZDX will have the closest drive feel to the RDX.

I liked my RDX because of the firm ride and tight handling. The front seat was comfortable most of the time, but the back seat comfort was brutal. I could hear my rear passengers groaning on every bump.
