Planning to Buy a 2008 RDX ! Questions Inside.
Hello All,
My sister drives and MDX and have friends driving acura tx. All I heard is good about Acura to date. Now I am planning to Buy my first ride and looking to get an Acura RDX 2008.
This one is sold by a private owner with 36k miles for 18.5 K. The body has few scratches, otherwise it drove very well. Not having too much idea about the Cars in general, what are the things I should have in mind ? Any suggestions / questions will help this noob !
Thank you all.

I have an 08 RDX and there are not too many issues with this vehicle. Some things I would double-check on:
- All regular service was done to date (fluid changes, engine filter, cabin filter, brakes, etc..)
- Do you have Driver 1, 2 and valet key?
- Does the owner have the Navi code and stereo codes?
- Does the owner have the Acura manuals?
- Do you have the original battery? The OEM battery is known to die with zero power with little to no warning. Replaced with an interstate battery on my RDX in 2011 when my battery failed with no warnings.
- I would double-check all doors lock/unlock along with the hatch. Some folks had problems with a door or hatch locking mechanism breaking.
- All panels/doors are aligned. My driver door and front fender were not aligned and the door would bind when you open 100%. Acura adjusted under warranty.
- It will hard to see in fall/winter with low humidity, check head lights for condensation. I replaced my driver side headlights because of condensation. Did not discover the problem until I traveled out of state from NM to another state with higher humidity during the summer a few years ago.
- Conditions of the tires and how much tread you have, my RDX seems to eat 50,000 mile tires in about 35,000-40,000 miles.
- Do you have the spare tire and all the parts to replace a flat?
- Check speakers, I changed two speakers twice under warranty because of rattling. Bring an iPod/mp3 player and an aux cable to test. Hard to hear issues with the speakers with just FM/XM. Might want to bring a CD just to test the 6 disk player.
- If it is a tech model, find the date of the Navi disk. Another added expense to consider, it could cost up to $149 for an updated DVD disk.
- Find out if any mods were made to the RDX like suspension, Hondata, intake, brakes, sound system, etc...
- Find out if the owner put a PIN code to access the Navi address book. You will need it to delete their stuff from the system.
- (if you purchase) You might need to delete old paired phones from the bluetooth system. The RDX can hold up to 5 phones in the bluetooth system. Not all bluetooth is created equal and sometimes old pairing can jack up new phones. I could never get my work blackberry to work with my iPhone together without one kicking out the other after a few days. Now have two 4GS iPhones and both work 100% with RDX and TSX bluetooth (unpaired blackberry).
