Opinion 09 MDX vs RDX
I am now looking at two potential vehicles:
2009 MDX Elite with 66k kms or a 2009 RDX Tech with 71k kms. Both appear to be in excellent condition inside and out and are for sale at an Acura dealership. (Prices: $26k CDN for the RDX and $35k for the MDX (both overpriced imho - think the RDX should be around 24k and the MDX around 32k; my trade-in is 28k.)
I used to have an MDX which I loved but idiotically traded (don't ask.) and after 1.5 years have had enough of the current SUV and am going back to an Acura.
Initially I thought about the RDX to save on fuel mileage, but after some reading it seems the difference is insignificant - which left me going to the forums to speak to the owners:
Are there concerns about the longevity of the turbo (a few months ago I got rid of my Sonata 2.0T Ltd because of turbo issues)? I am hesitant about it and know nothing about the RDXs turbo history..
Ride quality: I am looking for a comfortable ride with a quiet cabin...
Overall I am looking to buy either the RDX or MDX and keep them long-term: 6+ years...
What are your thoughts?
Thanks!

You should go with the MDX. RDX's fuel economy is awful (for city driving), especially for its size but it is very sporty. MDX is quieter and more comfortable (since it is bigger).

Mdx ftw
Love the little beast in my garage, but the RDX is just a little small IMHO. Might as well gain some space if you are buying an C/SUV.

Advanced
RDX section. No one voted for RDX. LOL.
Depends on what you are looking for. Sizewise the RDX is perfect for me and I could not be happier. I only have 1 child. I can see with a bigger family size would be a issue.
For the fuel consumption here is a good site to check.

for the 09 mdx and rdx. There is not too much of a difference listed per year in rated fuel costs.

Mdx and rdx your going to pay at least 80 to 100 dollars if your in Canada lol. My co-worker has a mdx and its bad in the city and its heavier then the rdx. Rdx is bad in the city and its about 4000 pounds. Rdx is more to maintains. If your not going to not mod it then Mdx is the best way. If your going to mod it rdx has more parts then mdx.

I don't think there is a big enough difference in MPGs to pick the MDX over the RDX or the other way around. The RDX has the “potential” of saving a little bit more gas; but, in application that is not always true. I love our little red pocket rocket RDX to point and shoot around town. I could not drive the MDX the same way. I’m not too concerned about MPGs; but, I do average about 19-20 mpgs combined with 60-70% hwy (speeds up to 80 mph on hwy).
Just the price difference alone between the RDX and MDX would mean almost 2-4 years of paying for your gas and maybe insurance, if that is a long term concern. I know after driven a MDX for so long, it is hard to downgrade in size, luxury, power, and tech.
