Talking Newbie/Lov'in it

Hi Everyone!
In shopping for my new car, I had a few criteria in mind (some more shallow then others)
1) sunroof
2)leather heated seats
3) get up and go!!
4) basicly fun to drive!
5)Sporty car-SUV-wanna-be

Been lov'in my new ride three weeks now. She's a silver/black tech package (too dirty now for pics). Darn car impressed me the moment I got in it. I didn't feel that way when I drove the X3. I always wanted a bimmer, but I couldn't get by spending that much on a lease to load that car up like I wanted it. Instead I sleep well owning the RDX after 3.9% financing. Did you check out the X3 nav system? The RDX is also a softer ride with better comfort to the seats with comparable handling.
The only problem I have, is the voice activated sys, seems to have trouble with voice recognition. Often, if I say.."DVD ON" it thinks I said "Air Conditioner ON" No this isn't all the time, but frequent misinterpretation. I TRY to speak slow and clear, but do I speak Swahely? ...no offense to Swahelans. Maybe Ford and Microsoft has improved on the system (we have yet to find out). Untill then, I'll be taking my command bookto bed more frequently...does osmosis really work?
P.S. Purchased a few DVD-A's and it's so sweet!

"DVD On" isn't a command that the system understands. 99% of voice command problems I have are because I'm not saying the right command. The other 1% is because the fan is too high, which the manual warns against.

Thanks for chiming in.

This might be a bad time to bring this up, but can I get that $20 you owe me?

Welcome.

my bad

LoL.
Hey creative guy, you're right. I checked again, and the command is "DVD PLAY" or "Audio On" These are the things I haven't hard wired yet. Like I said I need to study more. Just wish the system had a broader vocabulary.

They will some day. One of the sales guy who showed me the car used his own thick Russian accent to show how good the voice recognition is. I couldn't understand half of what he was saying but the car got every word. Pretty amazing.

What I'd like to see is a faster system. Try playing with the system in your garage with the radio off. You can hear the DVD drive accessing like crazy for every command you speak. One of these days, flash ram prices will fall enough for a manufacturer to put the whole system on an SD card and ditch the DVD and drive.

What DVD- Audio's did you buy? Where did you buy them? It seems like there are not a whole lot out there. I doubt I'll stock up on them, but I plan to buy maybe a dozen or so just for kicks. The sample one really is amazing.

I bought the Beatles Love DVD-A. It comes with a CD as well so you can play it in a regular player, rip to ipod, etc. The difference between the CD and DVDA in the RDX is amazing. The CD sounds so flat.

The best DVDA track I've heard is track 5 of the demo DVDA that came with the car. The surround sound is amazing. I'd love to get a DVDA that sounds as good as that.

went with musicdirect.com. it was posted here on the site. but so were many. I just checked them all out, and the best Icould find interesting at all, was that I listed. I'm still waiting for one out of four DVD-A's to show up. third one came last week. Comes in spurts i guess. So far they are awesome...except for an old bob marley...not sure it's really a 10 speaker sound. The newer ones are great like Shaniah Twain but don't expect to find what you're looking for in a DVD-A. Not a lot to pick from. Thus my pick of Shaniah , Marley (old)...but then..I'm old.
