Need premium fuel?
I've had my 2011 RDX SHAWD for a few weeks now, and I've put in a couple of tanks of gas. I found out today (from an Acura dealer) that I should be putting Premium fuel into the tank. Thats quite the expense (at least here in Canada)...
Can anyone comment on
1. Does this vehicle NEED premium?
2. Is it ok to run regular?
3. Any damage or downside from no using premium?

The 1st Gen RDX is designed and tuned for +91 Octane premium fuel. Lower octane fuel "might" pre-detonate and cause engine "ping" because the turbo is forcing more air/fuel into each cylinder under pressure. The 2.3T is smart enough to adjust the timing a bit for reduce pre-detonation; but, it might be a the expense of loss of hp/tq. Many owner's of the 1st Gen RDX were 100% fine going with lower octane fuels like regular or mid-grade. I think using top tier fuel every once in awhile or always is helpful keeping the fuel system cleaner in any grade you decide upon. I never needed to use any fuel or oil additives with my 08 RDX with +200,000 miles (still on the road).
