More useless ramblings on a quiet Wed.
I was talking to my friend in the US about my new RDX and i said "i got a new Acura" and he said " a new what?". I said "a new Acura". He said "oh...an
AAH-cu-ra..its AAH-cu-ra, not a-CUR-a" He then proceeded to make fun of everything Canadian...after which i did have to remind him yet again that we do have toilets and electricityup here, and that we didn't invade Iraq.
It seems we pronounce it differently up North. So what is the correct way? How do you pronounce it?
AHH-cu-ra or a-CUR-a???
Love my RDX but.....only 8 weeks till the S2K comes out!!!!

Acura is pronounced with an accent on the A, AAH-cu-ra.
I have to admit , the other pronounciation, a-CUR-a, has a certain exotic ring to it though. I imagine the Brits saying it this way.
Good observation btw.

Funny, this reminds me of the old debate over how to pronounce "Celica". I always used to put the emphasis on the second syllable, as in Cel-EEK-a, but a lot of people would argue that it is pronounced CEL-i-ca.

Canadians, along with the rest of the world, say it the right way: IH-rack not EYE-rack, IH-ran, not EYE-ran. Could never understand why Americans (alot of them anyways) say it the wrong way!!
The new S2000 is thr CR. Tuned for the track only. It wouldn't survive a day on our potholed streets. And yes it looks kinda ugly. Other than minor cosmetic changes, the S2000 hasn't really changed much...I LOVE MINE.

Ya (another great word) theS2000 does need an update. I think they may retire it rather than restyle it. Just my opinion. Mine is an 04 so it was still fresh back then. Still the best bang for the buck around...

Have you guys never seen a commercial for Acura? Even if not, given that it's a made-up word based on "accurate", why would anybody pronounce it a-CUR-a?
Or is that not a-CUR-rate?
Or is that not a-CUR-rate?

I'm waiting to see the new Aact-Cur-Ra NSX, that's my replacement for my 02 S2000. I hope they'll get it right, the design of the new TL and TSX are questionable.
