I read that the P2266 is most commonly fixed by replacing the ring that gets elongated. It leads me to wonder why doesn't honda make the ring stronger?
I also read that Honda's solution is to replace the entire turbo.
Someone else said the reason the ring stretches is because the spring in your wastegate wore out and doesn't move easily, which is why the ring stretches.
Have you ever had a P2266 code? How did you fix it? Were you happy with the solution, or would you have gone a different route?

I haven't run into this issue yet but more than likely there are several components that are wearing out other than just the visible ring. There's a video on YouTube of a mechanic tearing down the TD04-HL turbo we have and showing the other locations of wear. The ring is probably a temporary to medium term fix. I plan on either getting my refurbed and upgraded or just buying an already upgraded one and doing the install myself. Definitely time consuming but installing a downpipe is almost half the job in itself.
The following video is a rebuild video. I can't recall if this was the video that highlighted the wear area but either way you will be able to see all the mechanisms in play. There's at least 3 other areas in question in addition to the ring that is visible.
