How to Properly Break-In the RDX -Engine?

Any idea on how to properly break-in the engine to ensure longevity and efficiency?

Fill it with regular 87 octane, then drive around at full throttle!! Just kidding. Look in the owner's manual -- they have all the do's and don'ts.

The basics are to go easy on the brakes, be sensible with the throttle, and avoid traveling at any one speed (engine RPM) for a length of time.

No offense, but I think I would recommend taking the advice of the team of engineers that actually designed the engine instead. Do you really believe that this guy understands the needs and expectations of the RDX engine better than the orignal engineers ?

Nobody told me to break her in gently! I've been letting her rip for the last 1000 miles, and having a great time doing it. Who reads the manual anyway! ( actually if you buy the tech, you'll be doing a lot of looking in the manual)

IMHO, I take recommendations from owner’s manuals with a grain of salt when it comes to things like this. The owner’s manual is written for the average person and written to protect the company. How could Acura recommend an owner to run the engine hard to break it in without risking a lawsuit if an accident occurs?

Sound's like a good way to for an engine yo start using oil burning sooner!

I think the easy way to explain breaking the car in is to drive it like a new car. There are theories on car engines, fortunately for us the technology has changed so dramatically that the car's computers recognize things like engine knock, timing and even the break in period and react accordingly. That being said because the car is automatically set up for a break in period you really don't have to be concerned with pushing it.

The only real concern is the brakes, you need to ease to a stop so they don't get warped. I think the true engine break in period is until the first oil change. There is a certain amount of burn off that is present in your oil which when changed will lead to increased performance and excelleration.
