Hood Latch Problem

Popped the hood to the 2009 RDX the other day and the hood latch is not even clipped in secure. And there is no way for me to even clip it in. The latch seems to be too short?? Has anyone seen or heard of this issue? Does anybody have a picture how the hood latch should be secured into the clip? I tried every angle I can think of and it just seems to be too short to reach the clip to be clipped in secure.

Just snapped this in the parking lot at work... Excuse the mess, they've been dumping salt on the roads all day.

Also, am I the only one who thinks Honda should have sprung for hood struts at this price point? That hood is unusually heavy for a prop.

Weight of hood

I suspect the weight of the hood (due to the air "ram" for the turbo intercooler) is likely the reason there is a prop; most gas struts likely would not reliably support this weight.

Thanks for the picture. Either I got a defected prop or what but its too short and won't reach that white clip.
