high beams and AUTO switches

quick question:
in the OM, it states that if you leave your light switch on AUTO, for you not to leave it more than 1 week at that position when youre not using the vehicle for that time.

now my question is: i noticed that in my eagerness to clean the interiors of our rdx, i inadvertently pushed the high beam switch on last night and left it there. the engine was shut off (and so was the ordinary low beam switch - eg. off). is there any power running through the circuit in this instance? (eg. battery draining) note that i didnt notice it last night as the lights itself were not on (just the high beam switch).

thanks for your thoughts fellow rdx owners

ps. just wanna make sure im aware if there's a potential battery issue down the road due to this - eg. replace earlier than normal

The high beam switch? No. Don't worry about it. Even if you did something that used some power, as long as the car starts, you haven't drained the battery enough to do any damage.

The issue is that there is a relay that is constantly energized when the switch is in "auto" position, which leads to a substantial battery drain after a couple of weeks. The same recommendation goes for all other Acuras with the auto on/off or just auto off feature.

thanks guys. i guess rexorg's comments on the relay being constantly energized will not apply to the high beam switch based on catnippants' comments? {there's no warning on the OM for it so i presume that's the case - eg high beam being left on (Switch wise not light wise) shouldnt be an issue on battery}

no worries on your issue cav - our rdx normally has a "reminder" for forgotten light switches. the fact that it didnt light up means no harm done. btw, i like your nick - great stock last year LOL
