Here's a Strange Thread...

Every vehicle has an image. Or more aptly, every vehicle reflects some stereotyped picture of what the driver may be like as a person. For example, BMW and Hummer drivers are often seen as overindulgent, spoiled, silly or some other negatives -however untrue that may be. Well, how about the RDX?? How do you think people are seeing you in your new RDX?

I ask because since I got my RDX, I have often been given "the finger" from other drivers (3-4 times in the past month) while actually doing nothing wrong. All finger givers have been female. I'm perplexed. I traded in my 2006 Saab 9-3 for my RDX. In my Saab I got nothing but love from other drivers. Never once did I receive the finger.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this??

Acura targetted the RDX at 30 something single male urban professionals as a general stereotype. I realize many RDX owners don't fall into this category though.

As for the finger, it must just be you! Here you go...

Seriously though, I haven't experienced that nor have I ever heard of it, no matter what kind of car you have. Maybe someone stuck a sign on your tailgate like a kick me sign....

That's odd. Your license plate lettering doesn't send out any alternate meanings, does it?

It says F*** C***s

Is that bad?

But seriously, my experience is getting a bit weird. It is not a BMW. I do not expect distain on the road. Are other people getting anything similar?

Either they hate "you" for driving such a nice vehicle, that they're jealous of "you"....or...

maybe these woman want "you" to donate to their inability to have some of that fine stuff!!! (no offence to the ladies of this forum!)

I know, it's impossible to drive that slow in an RDX

I've had several BMW's and never experienced any disdain on the road. The biggest PITA was the soobahroo drivers always wanted to drag race from stoplights.

?

Maybe the carbon/bronze sends people's brains into tizzies.

Maybe they are just jealous.

Maybe it is just me.

Maybe I am doing 55 (that's a number, right?)

I don't know. Nobody else is receiving hate in their RDX?

Might be the HID lights the car sits a little higher up and the lights occasionally go into other drivers eyes or rear view mirrors. But now that I think about it , would be difficult to see them giving you the finger unless stopped at a stoplight.

Maybe your parents didn't pay enough attention to you as a child and you are just being self conscious.

Maybe but if so, wouldn't I still have been self-conscious in the Saab?

Maybe they are treehuggers that have been hearing some of the bs gas numbers that people are talking about. You know the 8-12 mpg. Than they start adding the rdx to there tree huggin sites and word spreads fast to flip the finger and see if production daminishes. Hope they dont start throwing stuff at you. LOL

Just change your tag to ECOPWR or something and slap a hybrid sticker on and see if it stops.

We would need more than that to see if it spells anything out. You can make a lot of words with numbers in the middle!
