Hardwiring a dashcam

Hi everyone!
I've been thinking about getting a dashcam, and am looking for the easiest way to hardwire it. I'll be mounting it behind the rearview mirror, and only want it to activate when the car is active.

I've currently got no experience removing interior panels (on the RDX).

I was thinking of hardwiring the 12v into something near the rearview mirror , such as the auto dimming mirror or the sunroof switch.

Do you think that'd be possible? Or too much of an electrical risk. (3M wire taps)
Thanks in advance.

its easier to drop the line down the A-pillar into the footwell near the kick panel fuse box.
then, just tap into the ACC fuse

Ignore the sunroof idea - the switch probably sends the signal to a module

I'd love to wire it through the a pillar, but I haven't got the faintest idea how to remove it. I'd probably yank it if I wasn't sure I'd break the clips!

I found this instruction manual for the oem remote start install. It details how to remove the a pillar!

the pillar is super easy.

you will see a square "button" it should say like airbag or something.
DONT worry. there's no air bag there.

use a butter knife wrapped in a cloth to pry the little square button up.
once the square is up, you can lightly pull on the a pillar from top to bottom to release the clips

Really? No need to break and replace the little clip that Acura suggests?

The reason I was thinking about using the rearview mirror is because its already wired, like this

i read the shop guide to the oem remote install, i didnt see anything about breaking!

and hey, there is no wrong way to install something.
if you find it easier to do the rear view mirror install, then by all means go for it!!!!!!
