Front Spoiler

Does anyone have this installed...Im going to have it installed this week but I cannot find a normal picture of how it looks. The only thing on the website is some angle shot, id like to see a head on and a regular side shot if anyone has one...thanks

I have the front spoiler on mine. Love the look of it. You can also find owner pictures...some that have the spoiler....on the sticky here:

RDX Owner Pics

Some owners of lighter-coloured RDXs (white, red) don't like the colour mismatch between the body and the bumper...just something to be mindful of if you think it's going to bug you.

looks awesome, we have the same color, so even better! is that a seperate piece that goes over the existing bumper or is that a new piece all together?

New piece altogether. I wonder if I could've kept the original bumper as a quick replacement if the spoiler ever got damaged. Not that I really have the storage room for it...but I figure I probably paid for it...hmmmm....

How about some before and after photos from the same camera angles. To my eyes, the photos posted here don't look a whole lot different from the standard bumper. Maybe it is just the angle.

imagine mau108's pic without the bottom "fangs" and bottom crossbar. That's kinda how the standard bumper looks.

Yes, you can request for your bumper piece back at the end of installation. They will put it in your trunk with the seat folded. I got mine in my closet, and it's big. I need to put it somewhere else.

Here's mine.

I would also add the rear diffusser; it makes the rear more complete looking.

Nice pics man!

You know, I had a relative drive the RDX in to the dealer for some maintenance (my job keeps me chained to the office) and she asked them to get the bumper back and they gave her some excuse about having to drill holes into the fender (or something) so the original bumper wouldn't fit back in place even if we wanted it to.

Is this true or just a b.s. excuse so they don't have to give it back?

Thanks.

It may be true about the drilling part, but I am not sure. I know that it requires the front bumper to be removed for installation.

Giving it back, regardless if it can be used or not, should not be a problem with them, so I dont know why they are hesitant to return YOUR parts YOU financed.

I guess, after some time, people will know if the lower piece can be reused in the future.

Mine cost $500 (which I negotiated with the car)...regular price is $750. You can also order the part from online dealerships from the U.S. if you want and then install it yourself. It's $325 U.S. on Curry Acura.

True enough. I'll have to ask my dealer personally when I get the chance.

FIY front bumper installation

Hi Guys. I live in Canada and took the cheap way out to get the front spoiler. I ordered mine through a dealer in the US and he sold it to me as well as other parts for the 300us mark. There was no duty at the border because the part is marked as made in the US.. Anyway , I downloaded the instructions and did it myself. Not a big of a job if you take your time and follow the instructions. You remove the whole front bumper assembly and then seperate the assembly into 2 pieces. You then add the new botton spoiler and then re-assemble. The only drilling that takes place is the addition of 1 spacer on each side on the inner fender well. There is no drilling or destruction of the old piece or the new piece. You should get the old piece back as you could reuse if something happened to the new spoiler. Your dealer is not telling you the whole story. Mabey they damaged it in some way removing it. Mine came off and looks as new. Ps Canadian dealers are giving it to us royaly with the price of these parts. I purchased the front spoiler, body side mouldings, Leather shifter, and front hood air deflector for 600bucks. The dealer in canada wanted 1800 bucks for the lot. Wow what a rip off.

Well that settles it. I'm going back to my dealer and asking for the original. They're probably storing it as a "replacement part" in their shop. 5 weeks have passed though...think I can still get it back?

Update: Contacted my dealer and they tried to tell me the the performance skirt is molded onto the original. Then when I told them how the installation was done, I was sent to their service department, where they told me that they "throw away" the original bumper, unless requested for by the salesperson.

I'll admit, I should've asked for it up front but I don't really buy their explanation. Makes a whole lot more sense to keep it for themselves and re-use it later for someone else's repair. Am I being paranoid? Should I still have been able to get the bumper back?

Bumper

My lord look at the instructions in the DIY section. The old piece is in no way moulded into the old bumper. Are you sure that this is the dealer that you want to service your Acura??. Being that I did it myself my bumper is sitting in the garage and is like new if I ever need it. I can not believe that they would throw it out but you never know. If they threw it away there is nothing that you can do but for kick price out the original spoiler from the dealer and ask them why they would throw that much money in the garbage. You could of put it on ebay and mabey someone would of bought it.

Yeah I had to tell them I looked at the DIY online before they believed me when I said the bumper was a completely different piece. I don't think they "threw away" the piece at all. It's probably sitting in their main service center somewhere waiting to be re-sold as a replacement part down the line.

That said, no use crying over spilled milk anymore...but really, as far as my "first car" purchasing experience went, it's pretty disappointing that I've caught every salesperson I've talked to in a lie (whether intentional or not). I know there are honest ones around. I just wish I ran into one when buying my RDX.

Yeah most of the stealerships have slime Sales guys, thats why when you find that right one you have to stick with them, that said I would not doubt for one minute that they kept it around, to use it on another RDX, or to sell it and make some of their money back.

Update: My dealer just called and said the spoiler is a piece that's attached to the existing bumper, thus no extra part to hold on to.

I dont know now, if anyone has the directions or a link to the directions for this part i think that will settle it.

The instructions are in the DIY section.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1482

But yes it does attach to the existing bumper. The stock lower bumper is removed and replace with the front underspoiler. Basically the piece with the fog light cutouts is the part that is replaced.

Yeah, it was the "lower bumper" that I was talking about. Just wanted to get it back because A) if I ever incur minor damage on that part of the car and B) CGP is now an out-of-stock colour so I'd rather have the piece in case the spoiler needs replacing.

Keep in mind...

When you purchase optional acessories, you can ALWAYS request for your parts to be returned to you, or you can pick them up later that day or days, at most.

This is the biggie that no one seems to talk about:

RIMS - people that uprade to the Sparkle 19" rims can ALWAYS get the oem 18" rims back. This goes for anything that is removed and replaced with the optional parts you paid/financed for.

The rims are either, kept in the shop for "spares", salesman takes the set and sells them, etc...

Hey guys, new to the Forum. Gonna pick up a used RDX soon.

Sctlenz, which US dealer did you purchase your parts from? I live in Canada too but always get hit with UPS "Brokerage Fees".
