Front Seat Leather Tearing - Re upholstery?
Hey folks. I'm new here.
I have had an '08 RDX with they grey-beige interior for about 2 years now. Love the car. Everything about it is in pristine condition except for 2 things.
The previous owner of the car seems to have parked it in the sun all day, and the windows only had the factory "tint" (if you want to even call it that). So both the passenger and drivers side front seat bottoms have some significant dry-rotting/tearing going on- a lot more on the passenger side though. I put Rayno S9 tint on about a year ago, so things haven't gotten worse. With the driver side not being nearly as bad as the passenger side, I'd really just consider doing one side in the mean time, since it's a little embarrassing.
Does anyone have experience with getting their seats re-upholstered? The OEM parts were like $500 a piece, last I checked.

Unlike the 3rd gen TLs, there is not much upholstery support for 1st gen RDXs. I think your best bet would be to call local upholstery shops and get quotes.
PS - the wearing is likely not due to sun damage. The front two seats are usually the seats sat in most frequently by people. If the leather was not cleaned and conditioned regularly with quality products, it will wear out as a result of normal wear and tear. It happens all the time. Think about how many butts have slid in and out of the RDX since 2008. Dirt, debris, sweat, grime, all play a major role in deteriorating the leather's durability.
