OK, I posted a while ago about my 08 TL-S front seat leather tearing, without anyone even sitting in the seat, and it is still happening. I just got into my car a couple days ago after work only to look over and see this huge split on the top most seat back panel on my front pass seat. I'm wondering if they dry out so bad and now that it is getting colder by me, if the leather isn't just splitting on its own. I called a local upholstery shop and am going to take it in to get an estimate, but I can't help but think if just replacing the one panel is going to be a waste of money if the others are going to follow. Anyone have any suggestions?

 

I would replace the whole insert (the perforated portion) or look at a replacement depending on the cost they give you.

 

I wouldn't even call the interior on a TL leather, but rather GARBAGE. A $38,000 car with the worst, crappiest & cheapest material Acura could get back then, they should be ashamed. Paper thin junk.

 

Don't do 1 panel. The others will follow. Same thing Happened to my passenger side on the Top. A few months later the bottom part Started ripping as
well as my driver seat bottom

 

whatever you do let us know I've seen onlne you can purchase replacement skins for like 400 a seat though i personally wouldn't pay anything more than 175 per seat maybe theyre getting them from china or some other country but either way thats way to much. If you live in a more urban area (me in south florida) you could find a place that could possibly fix it for the low good luck

 

The stupid perforations are like dotted tear lines. Mine tore when I was leaning on the seat vacuuming. Time to get some material and stuff it in there & super glue it.
