First Time Car Buyer - Set On A RDX
Hey guys.
I must admit this is the first time I've checked out the RDX section of the AZine. The only car I've owned is a 97 CL 3.0. While it has held up pretty well over the years I want something the suits my lifestyle better. I've scanned through the first few pages and found a lot of useful information about the RDX however this being my first time buying a new/used car any advice would be appreciated!
My budget is $21000 and I definitely want the tech package. Here are a few I'm looking at.

Added features for the model year make the '08 a better buy IMHO.

#1 all the way. lowest mileage, especially in comparo to the 84k 2008 ur looking at, altho the color isnt a personal fave (#2 is the best combo imo, i owned a carbon gray too), the 2007 drives THE BEST. Has the firmest ride, sharpest steering, and least flex in cornering. I had a 2007, and now drive a 2008, would give up the 08 in a second to get my 07 back.
The 2008 added a few features that the 2007 base model lacked like auto dimming mirror, mem seats & std BT, but since u have the tech package, those features were included anyway other than memory seats. If you can live without the mem seats, go with the lowest miles you can. Id stay away from that high mile 2008 and my choice is .....
#1, without question. Its a tough call between #1 & #2 based purely on the color combo, but if the color is cool with you, #1 seems to be the winner here. 21 grand for 84k miles is too high. the model year difference doesnt make up that much, especially since you are shopping tech package and not much changed at all, equipment wise.

I choose #1 out of those 3. However, if you have the time and patience, I'd suggest you find a private seller either on autotrader or craigslist. I've just purchased an 07 tech with only 11k miles for 22,000 super clean with no accidents.
Just make sure you do your research on private party values and have it inspected by a mechanic before buying. First, make offers several thousand below private party value before even seeing the car. If he/she accepts, take a look at it and run a carfax report to make sure there are no major issues. Take it for a spin and pay attention for any unusual sounds or movement. Once you've completed this step, bring it to a local mechanic and have them do a THOROUGH check up; ie check under hood, below car, test drive, etc. Paying $50 to ensure you have a high quality clean vehicle is one of the cheapest and best investment you can do when buying a car. Lastly, make sure the seller's ID matches the title and if possible, have the title transfer done before paying. And definitely avoid using cash! Hope this helps.
This is pretty much how I bought mines. Had it for about a quarter year with no problems

Thanks everyone. Leaning towards #2 based on the color combo. Gonna visit some dealers and make some calls to see what kind of deal I can get.

#2 is exactly what I have. Mine has just over 62K, and it's been brilliant. I'd buy another one in a second. For the record, the 07s with tech did NOT come with an auto dimming mirror. It was a dealer installed option.

Look for lower miles. These prices seem about 2-3K high so start your offer at least 3K less and go from there. I can almost guarantee they got them for 17-18K max on the trade-in.
07 by far the best handling and steering. no disputing that.
you can add the dimming mirror to the 07 for a couple hundred bucks..
Unless you share your ride, memory seats are not that big of a big deal...

I like the low mileage 07. The roof rack is a big bonus if you need to increase your RDX utility (cargo box, bikes, etc...).
I preferred the 08 model because of the memory seats (I'm 6'3" and the wife is 4'11"). I like the added bonus of auto adjusting the side mirrors with the memory seats; especially at night.

I'd go with #1 (lowest mileage) and talk then down on price or keep looking.
#2, '07 w. 72k for $21k, no way
#3. '08 w. 84k... 21k miles a year. It got beat up
