Question Exclamation Point in yellow triangle?

I noticed an exclamation point in yellow triangle over on the left circle -- turbo area.

Scared me but I don't have a clue what it means and saw it driving to work.

My oil (now that I've done about 1000 miles max in 3 months) is showing as having 30% left (synthetic). Of course, it said 90% after a couple of days!!!

You may have turned off the VSA (the button on the bottom left of the dash). Try holding it in for a few seconds.

Aha! That sounds possible and likely. I'll check it out. Meanwhile, wtf is VSA for (pardon my stupidity)?

Thanks.

Yup. That was it. It was back on when I returned to car, so turning off must be temporary. TX again.

It defaults to turning back on when the car is restarted. The only time you should turn it off in and RDX is if you are using the spare tire. Because the spare is narrower than the rest of the tires, the VSA can be tricked that the wheel is slipping when it really wasn't. This leads the VSA to use the ABS brakes to stop the wheel from slipping (when it really wasn't). Not a huge problem, it won't cause the car to blow up but it will cause unnecessary premature wear of the brake pads.

It's odd that you got it accidentally as you have to hold it down for about 2 seconds to turn it on or off. It used to be that you could just tap it and it would go on or off (I think that was 06 and back so never in an RDX) but they made the adjustment to prevent accidental VSA shut offs.

The other time it is advantageous to turn it off is if you are stuck in snow (or sand, mud, etc) and need some wheelspin to get loose. I had a turn VSA off a couple times in my old TSX to get out of a snow bank or unplowed parking spot.

Very true on front drive cars but on an AWD RDX you shouldn't have to in snow.

Hey, I'm a learn-by-doing person, and I suck at reading manuals.
