Just looked at my older invoices from the dealer when I did transmission service. No where it says that they replaced transfer fluid. Just says DW-1 3 qt for ATF and washer. I asked service advisor, and he claimed that when you get "3 - transmission fluid change", they always change transfer fluid together, except I don't see it in the detailed invoice. Did anyone check if your dealer indeed replaces transfer fluid when you come for "3" MID ?

 

My dealership always does trans+transfer case with the "3" service since they both take the same type of oil. I really don't look at the receipt to double-check; but, that is the company line when I ask.

 

The transfer fluid is not the same fluid, you can find it on this forum. Only needs 0.5qt of it. Does your dealer service invoice shows it being changed?

 

I thought the transfer fluid service was a 5 or 6 on the MID?

 

6 is rear differential fluid. 3 is transmission fluid and transfer case fluid.
I am pissed, I don't think mine was done, they would typically write fluid used and washer in the invoice. It's not same fluid as transmission ATF. Would be interesting to see if someone could check their service notes from dealer for #3. The funny part, they told me they do both and I trusted them.

 

Ah, I knew there was something AWD-related up there. I remember browsing it in my manual a while back and quickly disregarding it since I got the FWD model.
