Debadged my RDX

there were a couple of reasons why i did this. one of the main reasons is because here in hawaii we have a problem with people stealing them. so before someone decides to takes a flat head to one of my emblems, i removed them. also i think it looks alot better w/o them. ive posted a before and after shot.

Looks good, but now you should get rid of that ugly dealer Plate frame.

Does look good DN - too bad you can't remove that sticker on your lower right bumper. Is that a registration tag?

That's the hawaii inspection sticker and has to be displayed there.

Looks good IMO! nice and clean...I bet alot of people will mistake you for an MDX now!

I removed my "ACURA" emblem the first day I got mine. I don't know why Acura like to put both the "A" Logo and the "Acura" emblem. It just clutters up the back.

So how did you remove them -- dental floss? Was it hard to clean up afterwards?

I was thinking about taking off the "turbo" and "SH-AWD" badges when I get an RDX, because they make it look cluttered (or at minimum the SH-AWD badge because it really seems out of place). The rest of the badges are OK with me.

A lot? like who? None of the luxury models that I know of. Mercedes, BMW, Infinity, Lexus, Audi, etc. Even Honda doesn't have the word Honda on the back anymore, except for the Ridgeline, which doesn't have the "H" logo on the back.

Exactly. I always remove all the dealer advertising ASAP. If they want to subsidize the cost of the car, I'd be happy to advertise. Otherwise, forget it.

Anyone know a cheap place that sells blank license plate frames? I'm thinking I want a silver one in the back.

Thanks for posting the pics. I felt that the RDX was a candidate for debadging with all of those words up there. Now all I have to do is to convince my wife to do it!

As far as the dealership plates go - I find them much less offensive than when the dealership stickers or the dealership badges. I used to think they were the territory of lower rent cars, but recently, I've been seeing one local Lexus dealership putting a "Lawrence" badge right above the Lexus badge. Worst part is that the fonts don't even match.

Thankfully that practice is not legal in California. I can always spot the newcomers by those ugly stickers and badges.

I don't care about the emblems but It sucks how these dealers take the liberty of putting their name on the back of your 40 K car without permission. There ought to be a law.

When the dealer became adamant about leaving the dealer badge on I requested a $200 "advertising credit". He then removed it.

yeah the SH AWD did look out of place. and if any of you guys are thinking about debadging your car it was really easy and simple. i used the hair dryer to heat the emblems first. then used the dental floss to separate it from the car. the little residue that was left was easily removed by the bug and tar remover that i had purchased. no scratches, marks or anything left.

that was one of the reasons why i did it. i didnt want anyone taking a flat head to my emblems and scratching the car in the process. and yes it is a problem here in hawaii. its mostly the younger kids that do this. being that its a Acura with the words turbo on it, it might be sought after.

I suppose its worth doing rather than risk paint damage while being stolen, as you mention. I do prefer the badges on, however... looks classier with than without.

Looks sharp without. I never thought about the double Acura thing on the back. Agree, that is overkill! If I end up getting an RDX, I think I'll be removing the Acura word badge.

I know off the top of my head both infiniti and lexus double badge. Of course BMW doesn't because their logo says BMW in it.

I would think the first thing someone would steal would be the Acura logo. So they could hang it around their neck like a gangsta....

Anytime I've been faced with a dealer that insists on a badge on the back of the car i say see-ya. They've always back peddled.

As mentioned, many do it. Another to add to the list is Toyota, although it is not a luxury brand.

Sometimes I wonder if people actually think before posting. I just find it funny.

I think the SWawd looks out of place, that would be the one to remove. How long did you use the blow dryer to heat a logo up?

It didn't take that long to heat it up . A few minutes was good enough.

yeah that plate is ugly. another good about my de-badging my RDX is that i can take my PC (random orbitor) around that area where the badges were with no problem when waxing/polishing.
