Dead battery
My 2009 RDX Tech did not start yesterday due to battery. I called Acura Roadside assistance, and they came within 30-40 minutes and gave me a jump. I idled for 20 and drove around for 10 minutes and everything was fine except the nav is asking for a code, and the codes I got from the Acura site are 5-digits, while the code it's asking is 4-digits.
Well in any case, it refused to start again today, so the dealer better fix it tomorrow, and enter my navi code as well. I hope they'll put a bigger battery this time. It was already struggling for 2-3 seconds before starting anyway.

Battery - Yes - I have had two replaced here under warranty. One due to a TSB where the amp didn't shut off under certain conditions in the early 07 models and one just recently due to age... 3 years is about average here.
You should have a plastic card with two codes on it. One 4 digit code and one 5 digit code, if I remember correctly. You imput them right in the Nav... If yo can't find your code, your dealer should be able to help via your vin #.

They replace the battery with the OEM, no bigger one

Where do you live? I think extreme hot or cold temps are harder on the battery. But Honda/Acura are not known for real strong batteries anyway. My 04 TSX struggled to start quite often, as well. Haven't had a problem with my RDX, but it's still pretty new.

I had to replace the battery on our 2007 Tech last week. The string of -20 degree days took it's toll on the factory battery. It only had 440 CCA and we replaced it with a 640 CCA and haven't had any problems since.
You might want to check the left side of the glove box for your codes.

I live in Maryland, not the warmest place, but there are people here that live in far colder places.
They gave me a new battery with a 100-month warranty on it, and the nav code was the 4 digit one on the side of the glovebox, if anyone needs to know. The 4 digit code is the nav code and the 5 digit code is the radio code. I had tried the radio code before with no luck, never occured to me that there were two codes. No need to go on a website. Also got a free carwash and asked them to inflate the tires a little more to compensate for the cold weather and TPMS alerts at startup until the tires warm up. Also for better turn in crispness and fuel economy.
In the paperwork it says my battery had 178 CCA (Cold cranking Amps) instead of the 440 CCA it was rated for. It was unfortunately replaced by another 440 CCA battery which I presume will also be replaced again under warranty. I'll get a stronger battery when the warranty runs out though. It's only been 18 months since I bought my car, so that's how much I give the new battery before it dies, give or take a few months depending on weather.

how much was the battery? and also what TSB article was it for a amp? my mom has a 07 rdx tech and her battery just died this morning. i might just think about replacing it myself, not sure if it would be as easy as replacing it on a civic...

It's very easy to replace a battery, in fact Autozone should do it for you when you buy it from them.

thanks...my mom's rdx is out of the battery warranty so we would need to buy a new one. I guess i'll take the car over to autozones and have them replace it when i buy it from them then. Way too cold out to do it myself.

I'd like to know more about that TSB and the fix for it. My 07 RDX had a new battery in it when i bought it about a month ago and the battery started getting really weak with about 4 weeks of driving and wouldn't hold a charge. It ended up getting replaced again by the dealer, but they didn't go into the car any deeper than the battery. It's been fine for a couple weeks now, but I'm worried that I have that problem with the AMP staying on. Thanks in advance.
Also, Acura batteries have 100 month warranties so even if your car is an '07, your battery should still be covered I would think till around 2015 unless they have some loophole in the coverage...
