Consistently Over 20 MPG

20+ mpg since new in 2007.

I reset the Trip B each oil change. Here is the MID with 5% oil life remaining at 5960 miles and 20.9 mpg.

This is:
50% twisty , hilly rural roads
30% city
20% highway.

That can be divided further into 50% boring work commute and 50% spirited driving otherwise.

I'm entirely satisfied with 20+ mpg from this 4 cylinder, turbo AWD platform.

Nice. How do you manage that?

I reset Trip B every oil change too. I reset Trip A every gas fill-up. I typically focus more on Trip A MPG instead of Trip B.

But now I drive mainly city streets to work, which is about 5 miles away from home. My Trip A MPG's usually around 18 on average.

FWIW, I've logged about 1700 miles on my new 10' over the last 3+ weeks. I'm averaging between 25 and 26mpg for most of my trips and my Trip B is @ 23.2 MPG which hasn't been reset since I drove it off the lot. Then again, I do mostly easy highway driving and very little stop-and-go city commuting.

I don't drive like a maniac or some foo' from the hoods. I don't speed, nor am I heavy on the gas pedal. Still, driving city streets I can't seem to get better than 18 and highway 22!

twx, you're driving only 5 miles to work -- the engine scarcely reaches operating temperature, so the computer is running a richer than normal mixture. The stop lights and city traffic don't help either. Actually, 18 mpg is reasonable under those conditions.

Try resetting Trip A on the highway and see if you don't get something closer to the mid 20s. We just ran the PA Turnpike at 70 mph with 3 people and luggage and got 25.2 mpg over 260 miles.

Must be nice. I'm averaging about 18MPG. That includes a 5 mile drive each way to work on a highway with a couple lights 5 days a week, maybe two 20-30 mile trips to town and back, and about 10-15 pedal to the floor 2 mile round trip runs to the fire house each week.

I consider that decent.

That's good stuff XLR8R. I do a road trip to see my parents about twice a year. It's 368 miles of which 360 is all highway. I average about 23 MPG's on that trip. Otherwise I'm 80% city and get about 18 MPG. I'm very happy with this considering it's not a gas conscious car nor did I buy it for that.

Yea, that I do know. I used to drive back and forth between LA and SF frequently. I'd get about 22/23 MPG consistently, but once I got off Hwy5 I was back around 19/20MPG.

Then I guess my grandma driving skillz have me gas! Even still, I see people posting these crazy high MPG's on their RDX's and TL's and it get me wondering.
