compared to bmw 328
i am by no means saying that comparing an RDX to a bwm 328 is a meaningful comparison. i havent even driven that many different kinds of sports cars... yet.
however, i recently had the opportunity to drive a 328 and, i must say, i found the acceleration to be downright sluggish. from absolute 0, it got rolling faster and with more instantaneous response than my rdx. however, from about 5 mph onward, i found it to be sluggish and jumpy. even going highway speed, and trying to pass, i found it to have far less thrust (which i guess is torque) then my rdx. i was surprised to feel that way.
on the other hand, the handling on the 328 was excellent and the braking was superb.
i don't know a whole lot about bmws but i would have thought it would have felt very responsive.

i noticed the same driving a 323 and 328, some people like it, some people like the pull of a turbo app.
I would love to test drive the 335I, im sure it won't be sluggish
Did you notice when driving at speeds below 60 km/h (you convert that to miles) the car would stop on its own? I swear the car was slowing it self down drastically (not the normal slow down you see in japs or domestic cars), it felt like it was on the brakes for me :S

The 3-series is the most overrated car in the history of automobiles. Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration but it seems that most people, when thinking of the 3-series, think of M3 performance, loaded with options, at a base 3-series price. For $35K, you get a stripped-down, bare-bones, average-performing car. For $70K you get a slightly luxurious, nice-handling car. Either way, the car is not in any way worth the hype or the reputation.

thought id share another story....unrelated to this tho
every time my gf drives my RDX...she comes home and says "wow thats fast" and more particularly this weekend "ive got to be careful around corners" lol
her daily driver is an 07 TSX...first thing she notices everytime is the speed of the RDX and how it just sneeks up on her
also, my fam just picked up an 09 accord v6 w/nav. ive driven it a few times back to back with the RDX. RDX feels faster and I have to be honest..in some ways smoother as well, yea yea call me crazy. in some how some way, rdx feels alot stronger even compared to the powerful v6 of the honda (could be because tq is availble so quickly....but what about that supposed turbo lag???? hehe). the v6 of the accord doesnt come to life until 4-4500k plus, which coming from the RDX (and people want to bash its (non) existant turbo lag) the RDX ahieves lift off compared to the Accord. Ill take the turbo, seriously. Although the V6 in the new honda is a pretty serious engine, for some reason those numbers didnt seem to equate to performance. The new accord has matured dramatically, the ride is excellent, sophisticated qualities, but that engine does not translate to performance, at least not in the sedan. If that were to be an option for the RDX...id want my turbo back. In the accord, alotta tach swinging, alot lost in translation.
just reminds me how much of a vehicle the RDX really is and what it does...it sometimes seems to go by the wayside...the RDX is more than just a "sporty" suv in many respects. when you have the opportunity to drive many different cars (my fam has ALOT of vehicles) and you can do alot of cross comparisons hands on...its pretty amazing to be honest. When your suv performs as good if not better than cars that claim to be sporting sedans (TL, TSX, G35 etc)...i dunno...seems like a vehicle like the RDX has achieved ALOT.
Id drive an RDX all day over the TL, Accord, TSX. you dont realize what you have till you dont have it (or drive something else)...
sidenote -- the V6 Accord w/nav is one hell of a package. for the STEAL we got it for ...the accord has come a long way, in a sense if they put an Acura symbol on the Accord theres essentially no difference other than maybe more of a plushier interior feel (altho the accord interior is still nice). maybe thats why Acura is trying to get real upscale and distance themselves...the accord is a really solid package in and out. not much out there for its price that tops it, not even close. sticker at 32,400...bought for 27k. Not sure why anyone would buy the TSX, the accord PLUS the V6....the new tsx with its powerplant makes less sense to me now more than ever.
ok im done rambling.
