Chrome Paint on Grille

Hey folks,

I was toying with the idea of chroming out the grille for my RDX...so that it matches the rest of the trim a little more (badge, door handles, exhaust)...and to differentiate it a little from all the soccer moms in my area. Any idea on what's the best way to do this? Chrome paint? Custom adhesives? Or is this just a bad idea?

Sounds like a bad idea. Considering how many bugs hit that thing, paint would be gone in no time.

if you go with chrome paint I would get it done professionally, the "chrome" rattle cans dont really look like chrome at all.

If you want to go all out, actually getting it chrome plated couldnt cost that much more.

How about spaying the gray area of the grille to match the body of the car (in my case white), what kind of paint can you use??

Have your body shop do it to match the color. A guy on here posted a while back that he did that.

Uhh, chrome is not a paint, it is a plating. You can chrome plate plastics, but only certain kinds. It sounds expensive. You could go with a brighter silver for the rim and black for the inner skin of the grille.

I'd "chrome" paint the air intakes below the main grill, particularly if your RDX is black. Or consider inserting a chrome honeycomb grill inside the lower intakes. Something to give the RDX a chin! I think the main grill looks fine the way it is. Good luck.

Appreciate the feedback everyone. If the silver parts are easy to remove, I might take it into a shop and get them chrome plated (Patronus - you're right about the paint - the stuff I saw online was "chome-like" paint). You probably can't tell the difference from a distance but I think it might actually bring it more in line with the current Acura look (TL, the first gen TSX)...which I prefer more than the new look (the exception being the new MDX).
