cheap leather seats??

i never own an Acura before, but i placed my down payment a few days ago for my black RDX.

some friends told me that acura uses cheap leather, and not the whole seat = leather!

so i have to seriously protect the seats, otherwise they will wrinkle and crack...

they told me every TSX on the road, the leather on the seats are all wrinkled. ~_~

I thought the leather in the RDX was hard. It really felt just like what we have in the CRV-SE. My only other comment on the RDX is that the interior (driver's side) felt cramped. I did not get a sense of that well laidout spacious interior Honda is known for.

well, from what i have experienced/seen... leather is a luxury that u must protect... i have a tsx and they are bucket seats... so that little arch that comes up will be constantly be abused when entering and exiting the car... so that will cause wrinkling much quicker then cars without bucket seats... but those would eventually catch up with the wrinkles.. my dad with a protege 5 has 'flatter' seats and they have less wrinkles... same with my buddies accord... just have to take care of them and condition it and everything...

For the price, I think the RDX's leather is good. Of course it could be better, but then you'd probably end up with a car whose price tag is higher.

As for Acuras not using all leather on the seats...that's actually the industry norm. Generally, only the part you sit on is real leather...the sides and the backings of the seats are fake to cut down cost. For example the NSX used all leather on its seats...but that car had a price tag of oh say ~ 88K.

Tell them at least there is some leather! Beats the leatherette (vinyl) that is standard equipment in the 3 series BMW. They are just hatin cause they are jealous. I'd also suggest they find a different way to get where you were going to take them. Don't want to mess up your cheap seats.

We have a TL and it is a good idea to regularly treat the leather. In addition, there is a fair bit of vinyl, but nobody will notice unless you point it out.
