Changing between DVD-A audio groups in the RDX
Changing between DVD-A audio groups in the RDX
In the TL system, you press and hold both the SCAN and REPEAT buttons at the same time to change audio groups (i.e. stereo/mulitchannel).
Has anyone tried this in the RDX?
Just curious, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I wouldn't. However, sometimes they put bonus tracks on different groups, for example, on Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road DVD-A, there are bonus tracks that you have to get to Group 2 to hear.
I can find nothing about this in the quick reference guide, but I got it to switch groups - I'm still not sure how it works.
It seems if you have a DVD-A in the active slot (1-6) and press SCAN twice, the group number starts flashing. For example, Disc 6, group 1, Track 1 will display on the upper dashboard as 6-01-01. The group number is the middle "01". Then, pressing the seek up button will change the group number up in sequence, however, I can't quite be sure how to stop it from scanning. I think you press the scan button again, but sometimes it does not work.
I need to play with it more. It does work at times, and is a very cool feature, especially on really well mastered DVD-A's. The GBYBR has a stripped down version of "Candle in the Wind", a song I cannot listen to due to burn out factor. However, I can make it through this version on occasion, just because of the sonics.

I know on an MP3 disc, if you hit the SCAN button twice it scans the folders on the disc playing the first 10 seconds of the first song in the folder. to stop it from scanning you hold the scan button down for 2 secs and it plays the entire file. to switch folders, you hit the TUNE/FOLDER button. The owners manual says that DVD-A's work the same way. I dont have a multifolder DVD-A to try it on though.
Yup! That's it.
Many DVD-A's have the HiRez surround track on Group 1, the HiRez Stereo on Group 2, the Dolby Digital Surround on Group 3, DTS on Group 4, other stuff on other groups. I guess you could associate the groups with the folder analogy. Good call.
A DVD-A can have up to 99 groups.
For instance, I made a DVD-A of Pink Floyd's The Wall, from the DVD Video 5.1 surround track. I now am going to add the stereo CD version to a Group 2. That way, I can play either the movie version or the album version of the tunes, and only have one disc!
I haven't tried to see if it all will fit yet, though. But these are the things you can do with the multiple groups.
