no, no. However, one time I was forced to put in mid-grade gasoline since I was out of gas and their premium fuel was depleted. Probably not a big deal but I still felt dirty.

Costco sells mobil1 oil in a 6 pack for about $37 (in store). Occasionally, they would have a $10 coupon making them only $27+tax.

The question is "would I ever", and the answer is yes, if I have to and/or there are no other options.
I think that you may be wondering if people do this on a regular basis, not a "would you ever" scenario.

its not a question of one would or would not. its that one must not put cheap gas in a RDX.

Forgive my lack of clarity...

I've been following a couple of posts where folks have used non-spec oil or fuel. I have my own opinions about doing this and want to share what others believe. I am not trying to shame anyone, only provide an overview of what fellow owners are doing.

To clairify - I mean ever, under any circumstances (regular use or emergency) using...
1) oil that does not meet the HTO-06 specs, as well as...
2) any grade of fuel that is less than 91 octane.

I'm interested in understanding what the motovation of those who choose to ignore the recommendations of the mfr and use subgrade fuel and/or oil. These folks seem to think no harm is being done to the engine. I have my own feelings on that as well.

Due to my lack of understanding how the poll post works, and this forums lack of a delete post button, I have made a mess or two.

In reply to the best place to purchase oil - I get ours at Walmart - 1 -5qt jug of M1 syn for ~ $25

I hope this helps make my questions clearer.

I won't/don't use products that don't meet or exceed the manufacturer's specifications on ANY product that I own.

Although I believe Honda/Acura products to be competitively priced, I understand those that wish to reach into the non-OEM marketplace. I don't even take issue with those that chose non-certified products IF they meet/exceed specifications.

IMO, it is very easy to meet/exceed specifications.

I wonder how many people confess that they use non-spec lubricants, fuels, etc. when standing in the warranty line.

^ I agree Jim.

We spend hard earned money on a new car, why not do our best to keep it that way.

Part of that is so very easy - use proper fluids. Most important in a turbo'd car.

I tend to be A/R about maintenence, and that is by choice.

If you looked under the hood of any of our cars you'd see that it is as clean as day one.

I take a lot of pride in that.

I tend to drive them hard, and I maintain them with that in mind.
