Can a 2011 have technology package have a single CD player?

Hi there,

I'm considering buying this RDX. It has all the speakers (my clues were sub on the back, plus 2 speakers on the walls in the back), but it doesn't have a 6 CD player, just a single. I checked a few photos of other RDXs advertised with technology packages, and the ones I saw had the 6 CD player. Could the first buyer have chosen such a combination, or is the dealer mixed up?

2011 should have a single disc player and a hard drive to burn CD's, hence no need for a 6 disc CD changer as you can burn your music.

The 07-12 RDX with or without Navi still have an in-dash 6 CD multi-disk changer. You just load the 1-6 CDs with the one slot.

This. If you look closely at the CD slot, there should be some labelling to says something like "6-Disk Changer."

Thank you all. I now understand, I think. The one I was looking at didn't have the 1-through-6 buttons on the bottom of the head unit, which confused me.

Update: The (private) dealer told me today that it had been sold, despite its scheduled inspection with my mechanic on Monday. Either it was really sold or I'm thinking they found something...

First time I test drove it, no nav/stereo, it was asking for the code. They said they'd address that. Second time (2 days later), said they got the stereo working (they knew I wanted to check the audio), but the nav was still not working yet. I drove it, the audio was awesome. At first test drive, there was also a rattle underneath, which I believe my mechanic (Honda lover) would figure out...

Lessons:
1) Be very wary with local non-brand dealers. 2) I do love the premium RDX. I've been looking for a reliable AWD with a sound system that can rival my 2003 Subaru Outback LL Bean with an aftermarket head unit. I never knew how much premium audio could make a difference until I first sat in my 2003 LL Bean. Now, I'm spoiled, RDX looks like the best choice.

The ELS system in the 1st Gen RDX is pretty good. If you can find some DVD-A disk and the ELS will really amaze you! I would go for sh-awd versions over the fwd RDX if you are looking for an 10-12 RDX (all 07-09 RDX are sh-awd). Some folks had issues with the half shafts failing with the +10 fwd versions.

Today I put a deposit down on this 2010 RDX Tech, pending approval by my mechanic. It is the sh-awd. It's beautiful. Played my test audio CD, made sure my phone paired, etc. The CD going in/out was a little slow but I'm guessing that's because its got to shuffle between six slots.

I am making sure they give me the anti-theft code number before I get it off the lot. The only thing wrong is that the interior lights don't work and their service guys said it's not the light bulbs (I'm looking into that).

Shoot, dont let the CD player affect your purchase. Put all your music on a thumb drive. Transfer them in FLAC and away you go.

This, or get an iPod and reformat to ALAC. It's not quite the same as DVD-A (I have a few of those too), but if it was ripped from a quality source then it will sound great. I have a 16 gig iPod Nano that just sits in the center console with 1200 or so songs on it, and I just mix it up every few months or so.

Lights not working could be a fuse I’m blown plenty changing light bulbs from halogen to super high power led modules with huge heat sinks

Make sure he gives you the navigation code too!!!

Tech package basically makes the whole center console different...

Little late on this, but when I first purchased my 2011 RDX, I went shopping for DVD-A's on Ebay and Amazon. Purchased approx. 15 of them, and the sound to me is just incredible. The Eagles Hotel California is just magical. The normal radio is crap on the ELS. When Hotel California does come on, I cringe as everything sounds like it is coming out of one speaker. My Lexus Mark Levinson stereo is ok, but does not compare to the ELS when playing DVD-A's.

Agreed on that, I wish the format had caught on. I have a couple as well - Rush's Moving Pictures is exceptional on DVD-A. Given last week's news, that has pretty much been on repeat for the last several days.

Tomtw, that is funny, the first DVD-A I purchased was the Rush moving pictures. Probably because it was reasonable. I was blown away by the sound. Really can’t turn the volume past 12 on these it seems. I can’t believe three musicians could make so much sound. RIP
