Our Wonderful CD Player
Our Wonderful CD Player
Recently I found out something interesting about our CD player:
If you play a burned CD that has a label on it, it will get stuck inside the player and you will be forced to retrieve it...hopefully without damage to the disc. I found this out after taking the time out to burn around 10 discs.....none of which I can use in my car. I used a labeling kit from Fellowes. It seems that the loading mechanism is so unforgiving that it will either- not fully insert the disc or it will not fully eject the disc. I probably exerted unnecessary wear and tear on the loading mechanism. We'll see how long this thing lasts now.
So much for testing real-life conditions??

Well that's not exactly true.
CDs used to jam in my CD Player even without the labels.
I used labels from here and haven't had a jam yet.
But I do agree that if you label [paper] is too thick....jam.

Same thing happened to me today. I realized this a few months ago and stopped using labels. However, my wife forgot about it and used one of the old CDs with a label. Of course, it jammed when we tried to eject it. Luckily, we were able to get it out.

I don't use labels on burned CDs, and it would still get stuck. Regular CDs would also get stuck every time I tried to eject them, so I took it to the dealer, and they got me a new stereo (head unit, changer... whatever you call it. I'm not a car audio guy) under warranty.
I don't know what exactly they changed, but it works perfectly now.

I just write the title on with a Sharpie marker.
