B9 vs rdx

Went to my subie dealer last night for a test drive, the B9 is nice bug suv...and the dealer said there is a $2000 rebate until tomorrow on 2006's...which he would give me at invoice so its only $31000 for the loaded 5 passenger with nav..no xenon though...lease payment of $370-$380 for 36 mos with $3000 down and a 57% residual at 36 mos/...thats $70-80 per month less than I'm paying for my TL. I'm concerned that the rDX is going to be closer to a $500 month lease..more than I want to pay...Do I consider the very nice b9 for less than I'm paying now and get a good deal or perhaps wait til the spring on the rdx for the deals to start...i was set on getting it the day it comes out but....

If you can deal with the looks, no reason not to take advantage of a good deal. Personally, I wouldn't get near the B9 for fear that it will attack me with its obviously sizeable amount of ugly.

hahahahah...i felt the same way when i first saw it. its starting to grow on me though.

My sister and her husband bought one. The interior is very very nice. I cant believe the dealer told you about the 2k rebate. So basically they're still making 2k off of you? That seems like a bit high of profit considering I got my TL for 700 over invoice. Maybe try and get them to throw some other stuff in.

I can't comprehend how anyone could like or live with the styling but to each their own.

I'm moving away from liking it...but the dealer told me the invoice price and then took the $2000 price off of that...so...i wouldnt have been screwed at all.

If I hold off on the rdx for the moment I might try to amke til spring when the LR2 comes out...$34000 with nav, leather etc

In my mind, the B9 has always been more of a mini-van than an SUV... I guess image is a big factor in the SUV market so it had an unfortunate innate disadvantage already...

If you wait until spring, my guess is that you might find a tech package RDX for $35,000 or so.
I'd look into the reliability history of the Land Rover family of vehicles (especially since Ford took over). A quick look at Consumer Reports shows all of the Land Rover's at the very, very bottom of any reliability list.

I hate to say it because Subies are not bad cars, but the B9 is totally .....it matches the current gen Accord in the world of fugly. If you can deal with that and since you've gotten a good deal, we'll still respect you if you buy one. To each, his own!

nope i'm not doing it...the sunie ahd a greta interior but it really did seem more of a minivan than a hot suv. I'll just have to wait until the damn rdx comes out and see what kind of deal can be had.

What is the most anyone is willing to pay for it,for lets say, a 36 month lease with maybe $2500 down on the tech pkg of course! I say no more than $460 mo (my tl is $440

What was the sale price on your TL and what are the terms on your lease?

Balloon finance and lease payments are typically almost identical (the difference is usually around $10-$20 per month). Even if the RDX comes in at an MSRP of $32k exactly, you can't expect to get that much lower of a lease payment on a shorter term and with less money up front.

I would estimate a lease on the RDX to look to be about $450/month, TTL + 1st month payment OTD (about $3100), no cap cost reduction, 48 month lease, 12k miles a year. This is based on a selling price around $32k for a non tech package RDX with 700+ credit score.

I'm only interested in a tech pkg and a 36 month lease (or a balloon deal again so I can sell at anytime) I dont mind putting down 10% ($3500?) but am thinking the dealers won't discount off the 37k list ofr awhile. I'm only guessing but I figure it might come out around 490 month...whats your best guess?
