Anybody put a wood trim kit in your RDX?
I am not a big fan of the interior aluminium trim pieces, and was wondering if anyone bought an aftermarket wood trim kit that they installed on their RDX?
If so, how about some pictures??

I have wood trim on the dash and wheel (with taupe interior).
I felt the stock trim was a bit plastic and cheap looking. Like something you might see in a Saturn.
Personally, I like the wood trim, but I can understand someone who doesn't too....it's really just a matter of personal taste.

I too would be interested in the wood trim thing. I think it looks sharp. My escalade had it and it was very classy looking. I am open to suggestions as to what would be the best kit. It must look perfect and not sheezy or plastiky.
- And- I wouldn't start chopping up those Saturns again- this thread might end up on the moon as has happened before!

Does anyone have any experience with the 3rd party wood kits?
For example, from www.exoticwooddash.com
http://www.bitrimdatabase.com/diagra...=WD682A&db=FWD
(sorry, not sure how to post pics)
Their products are stick on. Does that mean the sticker will ruin the stock RDX pieces if I ever tried to take the wood trim off? I assume it is real wood.....like a really thin veneer or something? I have no idea or experience with this sort of stuff but would love to hear more if someone else knows.

I didn't think for a second that it's real wood (from their FAQs):
Are the wood finishes Real? The finishes in our Executive Wood Collection are all premium simulated patterns. Only select finishes in our Factory Match Collection are made from genuine wood. We choose not to offer genuine wood as a standard option because it adds cost, it does not last as long against harmful UV exposure, it always comes inconsistent in grain & color and most importantly, our advanced simulated patterns are so close to genuine looking, that most people can't even tell the difference!
I also like the wood interiors in cars, but an aftermarket piece can make the car look cheap. If you must have wood, I have to recommend the original Acura pieces. I have them in my RDX with the black interior they don't stand out all that much.

I was thinking about putting a carbon fiber kit on the dash. I have a black RDX/ebony interior so it should blend well. I think carbon fiber, as opposed to wood, would maintatin the tech look.

Thanks for the help wrestrepo. Maybe I was too tired, but I couldn't find the FAQ questions section on that site. (They probably don't want you to find it so you think it's real wood)
Even if I did go with some 3rd party trim, which I probably won't, I wouldn't use that entire package....I just think there some portions of the RDX dash that would look good with a little extra detail instead of the black plastic.

I agree with sl_33. I have the ebony interior. I'm not a big fan of the smooth aluminum trim, such as on the door, but I would like to find some additional trim - some that would match the silver/carbon fiber looking material that's used in a couple of places on the dash already.
