I've got an opportunity to get a used 2007 with 85K miles at a good price. I'm checking out this forum, but can anyone share if they have had problems with their 2007?

 

Like all used cars, it depends on how they were previously treated.

if well maintained, you'll have a pretty sweet vehicle with little to no problems that will last another 10-15 years.

it's a medium powered FWD vehicle. all the power is being sent to the front wheels. with that being said, the front suspension components take quite a beating.

Make sure all bushings are nice,which in turn will keep your alignment in spec!

these engines can chug beyond 300k miles, all it requires is Great fuel and regular oil change intervals.

 

My a/c compressor went out at about 105k, my turbo about 120k. My dual zone climate control about 150k. Other than those nothing else.

 

The 2007-2009 rdx were AWD only, as a fact, they always send 5-10% power to the rear wheels, so never in fwd only mode.

Just thought I would point that out, more for the op than you.

 

Purchased used in 2010 with 30K and issues I've had after the 85K mark (now have +126K):
- Alternator
- A/C compressor replaced (free because of Acura extended warranty)
- replaced struts/shocks (RDX lowered on Eibach springs for +90K might have helped kill the OEM struts/shocks)
- first brake job
- 100K service
- driver's side sun visor
- driver's door lock actuator
- replaced front/center console armrest leather
- flush power steering fluid (preventative maint)
- replaced 5AT, transfer case, rear diff fluids every 30K (preventative maint)
- replaced serpentine belt (preventative maint)
- painted calipers black (starting to show signs of rusty looking brake dust on them)

Most of the issues I've had are "one and done" and/or can be expected on a used vehicle. Expecting to keep the RDX for another 3-4 years and I will most likely have a different list of fixes/maint issues for the next 50K.

I would still purchase this RDX all over again with zero regrets.

 

I got my 08 RDX with 88k miles on it in 2014. Really like it so far and hope to have it for a long time. Replaced the starter at 96k, and all other work has been routine stuff. Did the plugs, serp. belt., and a transmission drain/fill last weekend at 98k to get that out of the way before a spring road trip.

The DIY section here is really good. I've been able to do everything myself so far. Aside from wrestling with the intercooler to get access to the spark plugs the normal maintenance work isn't too bad.

Actually, one other non-routine item: the wiper selector/stick/stalk thing had been working erratically since I got the car. Replaced that and all is well. I can now windshield-wash to my heart's content.

 

My 08 RDX has about 50k miles on it and I purchased it new in 2008. The only issue I've had is a blown passenger door speaker. It was probably defective to begin with as I don't play music that loud. But no mechanical problems so far.

 

That's a common problem. Be prepared to replace the rest of them in the future!

 

I replaced 2 of my speakers before the 85K mark. The OEM replacements have been 100% for +4 yrs.

 

I have an '11 purchased new in 2010, now with 111,000 miles. In the first couple of years it had a bad wheel bearing and a bad relay in the HVAC system that caused only cold air to come out in the middle of winter. No other problems since except that my heated seats stopped working last fall, around 100,000 miles. It's been a very reliable vehicle.

Edit....forgot about moisture in one headlight, just noticed a few days ago. Not happy about that.

 

97k here on my '07 Tech. Normal maintenance (brakes/oil, etc) and fluid changes per schedule. Armrest cover needs replaced, and a couple speakers need replaced (known issues).

No issues with engine, knock on wood!

 

What do the OEM speakers sound like when they go bad? Is it painfully obvious?

 

Got 130K on 2008 RDX. Problems:
1. A/C compressor clutch $1000
2. CV joint $200
3. Leaking tranmission panel $500


Other than that, only normal maintenance expenses
