Another who turned in 05 TL for an RDX

After a LONG Chicago winter with what seemed like snow every day, I couldn't take the two wheel drive any more! So I am now loving my 08 RDX (only my second day, and of course it has just started here snow again) and I say let it snow!

I must admit there is a part of me that wants to trade my RDX for a used TL Type S.

why is that? Is the RDX not living up to expectations?

No, it is. I just miss having a sports car a little.

When the snow hits, I am always glad to have the RDX though

I'm trying to wait until this summer to make a decision. Winters like the one we've had in Chicago this year really make AWD and SUVs attractive!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your RDX.

No, I am not missing the TL so far. But, this is a BIG change for me. I have always had a car, never a truck or SUV/CUV. I have had the TL as well as 2 Audi TTS, and A4, a Benz, and a Mazda. So maybe latter I will miss it, but I sure am not at this point.

Yeah, I went from a GTO to the RDX, so it takes some getting used to. However, after a year with the RDX I have adjusted easily.

If I lived closer to Chicago, I would NEED AWD. Just remember how much it sucks sliding around with no control.

Here in Ohio, it is nice to have when it snows, for sure. We got a foot one day this winter and I drove around like it was nothing.

Well it is looking like I will have a chance to see how the RDX handles in the snow vs. the TL tomorrow with a winter storm watch issue for tonight and tomorrw. Already I am more at ease knowing I will not be running through it in a two wheel drive. I just did not at all like how the TL did in the snow, it was one of the worse cars I have had when it came to bad weather driving. Same for another 06 TL owner who works at my company. He had enough a few week before me and went out and got a G35X two weeks before I traded my TL

haha I was just thinking about that. Am taking my TL to the dealership out in Schaumburg tomorrow and hoping that they'll give me an RDX as a loaner.

Snow traction on my TL improved dramtically when I ditched the stock Michelin's but it still leaves a lot to be desired.

Too funny, I took my TL into Schaumburg Acura back in October and I had an 07 RDX as a loaner for three days, and loved it! That's when I decide I wanted one. My TL lease was up this year anyway, but I just did it a bit earlier.

Just out of curiosity, how was the RDX in the snow? Did it live up to your expectations? How much better was it than your TL? I am on the fence with possibly trading in my 07 TSX with 15k miles for an RDX. I really like the RDX, and have after this winter (Chicago), I am seriously pondering this idea. I'm just not sure whether or not I want to take the big hit on the TSX. Anyway's, let me know your thoughts on the RDX vs. the TL as far as the snow goes!

Well again more snow in Chicago. I drive 25 miles one wayt to my office. This was my first snow in my RDX, and it was day and night vs the TL I had just traded. As I watch others sliding side ways from stops I was so happy I didn't have to deal with thaT AGAIN. The RDX was great, NO slipping and sliding. I just felt conifdent in driving it, which I never felt driving the TL in snow. Loved the TL, but hated dealing with it in the snow and ice. For me I sure made the right choice.

A little late coming to thread. I too traded an 05TL for my 07RDX. Only regret it a little. Seats are more comfortable in the RDX and there aren't as many on the road as the TL. That is changing. Have never had a problem with the RDX. On, have the tech.

I traded an 06 TL 6-speed - plus an 07 Element. No regrets. Best of both worlds, sez I.

ChicagoTL it is only a slight regret. The TL is sporty'er. I don't notice the "lag" and in fact the turbo is a plus to me. I guess it is just the sporty look of the TL. RDX has all of the gadgets, I love gadgets, that the TL did. Oh, the live traffic is great.
