All is quiet in 1G RDX world
Are we all waiting for Wrench to finish his turbo rebuild project? I had a chance to go on a little trip for Mother's day to test the Flashpro I installed approx. three weeks ago. Still on the same tank of gas, so I have not driven more that 150 miles. I punched it a couple of times, got up to 90 MPH and RPM over 5300 in 4th gear I assume. Was in auto shift mode. Fun is the best word I can say. You all are correct, above 3000 rpm's is when you start to feel the turbo. Gas mileage was 28 mpg round trip on computer. At least I found the road that I can do a WOT pull. Will have to decide on downpipe or upgraded IC. But that is later in summer.

I totally agree, I have never been on a forum as dead as this one before. I do realize though that the 1G RDX was never very popular, then again, neither was my Touareg and that forum is very very active.
I assume that the first 5 years of the 1G forum must have been booming, hoping to see it return sometime eventually.

Well....my ATLP exhaust is getting put on Thursday morning. Hope my world is still quiet after that (as the ATLP is supposed to be), but looking forward to the new bling. Reflash later this summer.

It has a nice sound above 35K rpm but before that its hard pressed to tell its aftermarket. You will love the look of the tips too!

But yea I am on Clublexus for my 2nd gen GS and that car has nor been made since 05 at it has a ton more traffic. I think in general Acura's have less of a fanatic following like say Lexus or in your case VW>

I know there is the fouler but if that does not work or is finicky im screwed.
Plus put higher CC injectors on your list.

Is that an indication of reliability?
The RDX was a low volume Honda product. It's super reliable, and aside from those of us in the know, not really popular as an enthusiast car (don't know how fun it is unless you drive one).
My s2000 is low volume and as reliable as a rock, but has a cult following that makes for a very active online community.

Yea I guess when the RDX first came out there was more of a buzz here.

I happen to really like how "unknown" the RDX is, I hate driving a vehicle that I see 50 times in one day. The s2000 is a pretty cool ride so I am not surprised at its' following, nice car!

I've had a couple friends that had Touregs, and quickly dumped them due to reliability. They were in the early models, so maybe that had something to do with it.
I also like that the RDX is somewhat rare. I don't have a dealer in my region, so any Acura is a novelty. I don't think many people around here realize it's a Honda product.
The s2000 is great. I'd say it's just about the perfect roadster, especially given the pricing of older models. Aside from a few ricer kids, the online support network is amazing.

I am on mobile but I assume you live in a european country correct? The RDX is somewhat hidden and I really like that about it, people don't beleive it is a Honda because it is a really radical move for them in terms of a turbo and the looks.
Yup I totally agree. The s2000 is a sweet roadster, I would take it over the miata ANY day of the week, I think the ricers really ruin it though.

I'm taking out my very limited interest in mods on my RDX because my S2000 is on sacred "no-mod" ground. I'll put up some pics of the ATLP later this week.

I don't blame them! The 2004-2005 Touaregs were awful reliability nightmares! The 2006 ones were a safer bet and the 2007 and up ones were the most "reliable". The 2011+ ones are WAY more simple and reliable.

The biggest issue for the s2000 is the fact that early, high mileage, cars are cheap enough for kids to buy.....and ruin.
Ya, it kills me to see what the ricers can do to an S2000. When I go to a meet now with my bone stock S2000, I get other owners drooling over it.

I will eventually do the reflash and intake om my RDX. I'm jealous of your exhaust.

Europe? No, Texas. Similar though, right?!?!

My GPW '00 is stock, except for intake and exhaust (I kept the OEM parts, so I can return it to stock).

I totally agree. once a car becomes cheap enough for ricers...well, there it goes.
Let us keep this thread going guys!

I'm working on it guys. please be patient there is a lot of background stuff going on. intake sizing front mount fabrication tuning issues ( which were recently solved!!! yeah!!!!).
on the flip side I am getting the internal plates made for the turbo.
getting 6 made. for the "cause" !

Wrench, our whole existence depends on you making the RDX break the land speed record. Don't disappoint us Actually, looking forward to see what you can do with it to see the potential. Good luck, we are all counting on you......

ATLP installed :)
ATLP installed today. My original exhaust was a rusty mess from it's former life in the midwest, and it looked like sh--t.
Just as I hoped, you can barely tell the ATLP is there, sound wise. If I don't point it out, wife will probably not notice any new sound. There's a little more low growl at idle, and you can tell it's there when you mash on it, but that's about it. Absolutely no drone, which I'm very happy about - or else it would be coming off tomorrow! And it looks great imo, fits the character of the RDX all around.

So when I do this WOT pull in 3rd, and I get to what I think is 6200 RPM's or so, approximately where will my speedometer be pointing? In other words, how freaking fast will I be going
#23
6200 in 3rd? I don't recall the exact math, but I'd say probably 115-120. I think 3rd is just under 20 mph per 1k rpm. Also depends on if you are AWD or not, as the AWD has a slightly shorter final drive. At those speeds it would actually be noticeable.
Edit: Found the numbers. Assuming stock tire size:
On FWD (4.31 final drive), you're at 18.17 mph per 1k rpm, so nearly 113 mph at 6200 in 3rd
On AWD (4.55 final drive), you're at 17.29 mph per 1k rpm, so about 107 mph at 6200 in 3rd
If you want to play with it, the math is simple.
[ RPM / final drive / gear ratio (below) / 63360 (inches per mile) ] * [ 88.5 (tire circumference in inches) * 60 (minutes per hour) ] = speed at given rpm
FWD final drive - 4.31
AWD final drive - 4.55
Gear ratios
1 - 2.7
2 - 1.61
3 - 1.07
4 - .77
5 - .61

Made me chuckle Wrench. I have never gone over 105 before, and that was a while back before LCD TV's. I may have to carry a dozen in the car just in case
