My AC is going off and on it is cold when it comes on though. Noticed that the compressor not coming off and on like normal . What could it be?

 

Could be a few things. Low freon, relay

 

But it is cold when it comes on

 

Start by checking in the switch is faulty. And check the relay as well

It is a know flaw. Acura extended the warranty to cover the ac clutch relay to 7 yr or 100k miles.

 

How much does that cost ?

 

About $40

 

Could be the condensor. i had similar symptoms. was not the relay for me.

 

How much to get installed the clutch relay or condenser ? Seems to come on when you drive it for about 5 min. or so.Would like to have as much information as I can when I take it in. Thanks

 

I don’t know what year 1st Gen RDX you have but I had a 2008 for almost 8 years and yeah, it was “normal” for the A/C compressor to come on/off constantly. Yes, annoying. If you don’t need the A/C then simply press the A/C button to OFF. But you’ll need to rinse and repeat each time you don’t want the A/C on. PIA yeah but simple fix.

 

I just had to buy a AC compressor relay for a 2007 RDX I just bought.
Auto Zone had it for around $15 and Advance Auto had them for under $10.
