An Acura dealer here in Canada told me the 2012 RDX will be a totally new design and will be available in April 2012. Anyone has other news or pictures of the new model?

 

I know they are running a 2012 RDX in it's present form. That's not to say they won't bring out a 2013 in April 2012, which Acura is known for in the past. Since the new Honda CRV will have a new 2012 on which the RDX is/ will be based, it can't be too far away.

 

A mechanic at the dealer told me that if I went with the fuel economy package (cleaning the intake, throttle body and such) I would get AT LEAST a 3 mpg improvement...

 

huh is that a joke? if you want 3 mpg improvement be gentle on the gas don't use cruise control on hilly roads, don't idle, follow speed limits. by gentle I don't mean take 20 seconds to get to speed. apply 50% throttle to get on desire speed then be gentle. pulse and glide technique works really well with the rdx if u don't spool turbo.

 

Serious joke....I was told that by the service advisor...I actually asked them to perform the service because it was time to do that, not because I believed what he said. Point that I was trying to make is that dealer people don't know all that much, or they will tell you what you want to hear if that benefits them in any sort of way.

 

i don't know about the rdx but i cleaned the throttle body, intake and washed the k&n air filters on my older cars in about an hour for free. hope they didn't rip you off.

 

Let's hope that Acura introduces a RDX hybrid. My 19mpg at $3.80 a gallon costs me over $1,800 a year for just the RDX (Our TL is avg. 22mpg). We should be getting better than 22mpg in the RDX.
