Has anyone recently installed roof racks on the 2011 (or 2010) RDX. There are new installation instructions out as of June 2010. Instead of pulling the entire "channel" out starting at the front of the windshield, it says to start at the rear and only extract the channel piece out as for as the top of the windshield.

Tried to do this today... and not sure I have the hang of getting the channel out (the black metal trim that you have to pull out and cut to fit the roof rack support elements). My challenge is getting the tool into the back part to pry up the channel. I do have the plastic tool, but so far no success.

If anyone has some tips on how to lift out the channel starting at the back that would be great. Thanks, Grant

 

Update. Okay... figured it out. Certainly the instructions by Acura are vague at best :-). I now have one side out. When I do the other side, I will take a video and post... For the next person, having some visual guides will definitely help.

 

Very nice of you to post this after you are done. I have an '08 and I just let the dealer install the rack for me.
