I've been having issues with the drivers side window for the longest time. I've replaced the main door harness that connects the door lock & window switches to the main harness. I finally replaced the window regulator today thinking that was the issue, but I've run into an odd issue. Maybe there's a window sensor somewhere I'm missing, i'm stumped.
After getting the new regulator in, and hooking everything up, the window goes up and down fine. When I put the door panel back on, it no longer works.
Here's a video of the behavior I uploaded to Youtube. If it doesn't work, let me know.
Thinking about your problem, the most likely place for a broken wire is right in the hinge area. Most likely the frequent opening and closing of the door either pinched the wire, or broke it inside. You could possibly see if you can locate the break.
I might have found you one in canada. According to the listing it ends in a 2 (making it a passenger side harness), not a one, but they claim the parts are interchangable https://www.ebay.ca/itm/274727738594
You're awesome. Thanks for finding that. I didn't think to look on Ebay Canada. I did order a new part from that Bernardi Acura parts website, little pricey, but, it is supposed to be brand new. I double confirmed with AcuraPartsWarehouse, and it does fit the 2007.
I'll definitely save that ebay link as well. Very much appreciate you taking the time to respond and find that for me.
@DashingDaryl Thanks again for that link to the part. I ended up ordering that one and just received it today. The part from the Acura dealership ended up getting canceled because they didn't have it in stock.
I'll update this once I get it installed this coming weekend.
Next time id advise pulling a harness from a wrecker like kenny u pull or the likes. It tends to be a lot cheaper and you can inspect what you pull. Full door assemblies including window, regulator, and wire are priced around 110-130 cad if i recall correctly.
I would target it with a multimeter and trace the wire pins from the window switch to the regulator itself. That should help you narrow down shorts. When you do find it then cut the short, add some shrinking insulating material, resolder the wires (splice them back together) and then heat shrink it.
UPDATE:
So after inspecting the harness, and doing some wiggle and pull testing on the wiring harness to try and narrow down where the issue was, me and a friend were finally able to consistently narrow down the point of failure, and consistently reproduce it.
It ended up being on the harness connector between the door panel, and the door harness. There was a light blue wire we were able to pinpoint. The contacts on this particular pin were black, not burnt, but noticeably darker than any other pin on the connectors.
So we implemented a fix using some Wago wire lever nuts.
Clipped the wire on both sides of the clip, stripped back the shielding, put the ends in the wire nut. Then used additional longer wire to connect the two.
So far, the fix has been in place for a few hours, drove about 50 miles and the window is functioning perfectly.
@yanga001 Thanks for the feedback and info. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Kinda helped me make up my mind to finally just pull the harness and do a full inspection.
Just an update, the window has been fully functional since the fix we implemented. Thanks for the assistance guys.
FYI, for anybody that comes across any kind of similar issues, the passenger side harness; Part #: 32752-STK-A004. Is NOT interchangeable with the driver side. It lacks the harness connector for driver side control panel (windows, door locks, etc).
