Post 144xxx MIles

Good morning/afternoon everyone. I now own a 2008 Acura RDX that I got out of an auction. Keep in mind I paid 9k for this I thought it was a good deal I could be wrong though. I live in southern California and there are not a lot of mountain here so I wont put the car through a lot of work. Overall the car has 144xxx miles on it. Yeah I know lol. But I was just curious to know what you guys think before I go ahead and start upgrading everything on it. Now for the bads inside some of the leather like the center console as well as front drivers and passengers arm rest leather is coming little by little. Speakers seem to be blown. Other than that the interior is 8.5 out of ten. Well taken care of. Now I did do the 100k service on it as soon as I got home. Spark plugs transmission differential ect. as well as valve adjustment. I also came with brand new Goodyear tires so I cant complain. But my question is is it safe to do hondata as well as intercooler ect on my car? Or should I start treating with care?

Welcome to the family!!!

Being an 08 with +144,000 miles looks like a lot of commuter/hwy miles. If the previous owner kept to the M.I.D. maint schedule and used syn oil (no reg oil or reg gas in RDX). You should be good to go with everything you want to do to the RDX. The RDX might of spent a lot time on the hwy barely using the turbo for most of that mileage. I would change all fluids (anti-freeze, brake, 5AT, sh-awd, transfer case, power steering), check alignment, replace air/cabin filter, check battery/alternator charging system, and replace serpentine belt.

I have just shy of 120,000 miles on my RDX with Hondata+ETS intercooler and had zero engine or CEL issues related to the ECU upgrade since install +4 yrs ago (ETS installed just last year). I stick with the M.I.D. maint schedule; except, I change the 5AT every 30,000 miles with Honda ATF. One thing I've done recently was replace the OEM shock/struts with KYB because the ride was getting a little rough on bad surfaces (also have eibach springs and progress RSB). Planning on taking my RDX as close as I can to the 200,000 mile mark.

After driving a SUV/CUV, you may never want to go back to a coupe/sedan again. Especially, the way the RDX can handle and having turbo power and the extra space for trips.

Also, the "leather" on the console and armrests is actually a cheaper vinyl which is why it tends to lift the way it does. Any decent interior upholstery shop should be able to replace the console with genuine leather for around 100 bucks. Doors shouldn't be much more. If you're planning to keep it long term, it's something to look in to. (plus it'll make the car smell new and leathery again for a while)

OEM speaker issues are fairly common on the early model years and I believe replacements are pretty cheap. Check out the audio section of the forums and you'll probably find some recent posts.

Congrats!

I recently purchased my '09 with 140k on the clock, and it looks and drives like new.

For the console, I've seen real leather DIY replacements on eBay (not sure how good they are).

Blown speakers are common on these. OEM replacements are under $30 (iirc).

These really are great little CUV's. They combine Honda practicality with a little sports car-like fun. Enjoy!

Awesome thank you guys for the advise i ordered my new center console leather on ebay. I tried searching for the oem parts but is there any reliable sites out there that you guys have personally used to order parts? Seems like you need to be careful on what website you order parts from these days.

I think as long as you know what you're getting (OEM vs. aftermarket), your fine.

Just rolled 305k on my 07 RDX, still humming well. Drive it 700/week, no problems so far.
just bought a 15 TLX, making this car my 10th HMC, total miles on all cars now at 1.6 million, since 1977.

2012 Wagon: The $800 is for repairs, not maintenance... I didn't mean to say maintenance... I've had one mechanical repair cost, a AC Clutch and stator coil, repaired at the dealership since I've purchased the car, 8 years ago. Maintenance costs run me about $500/year, oil, tires, batteries, etc. All in all, a great car, it's always been the ride quality though for me, it's a rough ride. I traded an MDX for the RDX, so I was spoiled.
