Hey everyone, I need some help. My 07 RDX, 140000 miles, will go dark while driving, then restart itself instantly with a brake failure message. Then, without any operation by me, clear the fault code and be completely fine. I can then continue driving the car. The dealership couldn't figure out what is wrong with it. 4 times it's happened within the last two weeks, and all 4 times it was on a smooth road going slow speeds. I cannot seem to recreate it at will, nor anticipate when it will happen. Any info at all would help!!

battery related.. check your battery terminals and see if they're loosening up. may be corrosion of the terminals causing a bad connection, may need to replace the positive battery terminal. Happened to me before as well.

thoiboi, you had the exact same symptom with just brake error message and then the car would restart? I keep thinking it could be battery too, but the symptoms are so wacky! I would have thought the dealer would check the battery when I took it in, but maybe not.

I have also had to replace the positive terminal due to excessive corrosion. Had similar issues, eventually car would not start because the corrosion completely severed the circuit.

Wanted to update this post: I got the battery and alternator checked out and both are fine. So I did the next best thing and cleaned up the corrosion on the battery terminals. The problem has not reappeared for two weeks now, whereas before it was every couple of days. So thank you all for your help!
