Hi y'all
Ok, so I've been reading the 1st gen RDX forum here since I bought my car back in August. I'll start by letting ya know what I have changed and then go into what i think may still need attention and hopefully my ideas will sound congruent with the general consensus!
AaaaaalAaaaaalllrighty then!
1st, replaced both front wheel bearings. Passenger side sounded like someone was taking a large rock and scraping up under my wheel well.
2nd, botg CV axles, drivers side was beginning to croak at me so figured I'd do both of those as well!
3rd, both front rotors, brake pads, and calipers-- had the passenger side caliper dragging so put some high carbon (was gonna do the EBC slotted but up here in Montana, on icy roads driving like a Grandma those began to sound over the top for my driving style!)
4th- (under after market 3mo 3,000mi warranty) the infamous rack and pinion, thus, inner and outer tie rod ends
5th- sway bar links, sway bar bushings, control arm bushings, body mount bushings (bushings are all polyurethane)
6th- ballasts, igniters, HID's (ballasts were going but I wanted an even front face, non-winky eyed look, also now i'll know when all of it was replaced
7th- last and my most exciting upgrade- BC coilovers with Swift springs!!!!
It has a full set of new tires and I've replaced the air filter and changed its oil (Amsoil ). Also with Amsoil, down the list of fluids so far, (yes I'm one of those obsessed types), the tranny, brake, and coolant all got changed as well and I'm planning on differential and power steering soon)
OK. So, that basically covers all the work thus far i believe... so, onto what I think I should still be aiming to do...
Timing chain, intercooler, waste gate actuator and all 3 solenoids (here's where my knowledge gets iffy so please correct me if I'm wrong but go easy on me... all my know-how is self taught) and my radiator is actually wiggling so that is a priority ASAP.
I'm seriously considering, given that this car has become a money pit of issues, going ahead, saying eff it, and getting some more of the upgrade things done like the cat-baxk and the air intake done as well.
There is a metallic-ish sort of tinny-like sound coming from just in front of the driver side foot well. It is reminiscent of a large coin being dropped down from the top of the engine bay and falling through. I figure it is one of 2 things.... either the heat shield issue that is common, the wastegate getting stuck, or if not those two, then something else but I just haven't found what else it could be!
In conclusion, and as my follow up questions, is there anything I'm missing? Am I on the right track to diagnose the mystery sound? Given my 8k investment became a 16k investment rather quickly should I be even considering throwing anymore $$ into it? Or should I drive her till she breaks and cut my losses? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
PS: Sorry for the book of info... hopefully there's a few of ya that made it through and have some input!

Honestly, just hearing you're at 303k makes the money I've put into it seem waaaaay more worth it!
