Suspension work.

What's up guys.

Just wanna get your feedback before I do this. I already purchased my Tein S-Tech springs for $180.00, and I'm looking for shocks to go along with them. I'm 99% sure I'm going with Tokico HP Blue shocks, which I'm getting for $319.00.

Anyways, the place that is supposed to do the installation said they'd do it for $250.00. Do you guys think that's fair?

Not only do I not know how to install the suspension, I don't have the equipment, and I work practically 6 days a week. I'd rather have someone who really knows what they're doing (RCT Performance in College Point, NY) install my suspension.

Is that a good price for labor?

S Techs with the Tokico is a good combo, I'd go either Tokico blues or KYB AGX's

The equipment can be rented from your local auto store for pretty cheap. Autozone might have them for free rental, (check me on that).

$250 seems steep to me, but I have never had my suspension changed.

not really, for the amount of labor involved, $250 is reasonable, but you could def do it yourself. Just go to a shop and have them break your bolts loose for you, they may charge you $20. I swapped my own suspension back to stock and it wasn't THAT bad, better than the $600 I paid getting it and all my bushings installed in the first place

Because:

a) I don't want to spend 580 just for the suspension
and b) I've heard shitty reviews about coilovers on the first gen cl's in general. Anyone want to confirm this?

I believe the Tein Basics are shocks and struts. If the whole package is tein, then the quality should be great. I do not know more than that.

This is true, and I don't know where you heard bad reviews from, but coils are the way to go. You are paying a little more, but the shock and spring are matched for each other, not to mention for the bit of extra money, you get the ability to adjust your height up or down as needed

bro, whats an extra $90 for the ability to adjust ur car up or down. I think its WELL worth it, also the tokico's arent damper adjustable, so once ur put ur setup in, u cant adjust shit. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES, get coilovers and get it over with. ive been through 5 setups

what? if you "heard" about these shitty reviews, then how did you miss the hundreds of threads where people recommend coilovers, and say good things about them?

My package was $1000: Eibach Prokit and Tokico Illumina. I think a full coilover will always give you better handling than a mix and match package. If you're going to have the car for a long time and it's your toy and don't mind spending a bit of money for a few goodies I would rather have the full coilover if I had it to do over again. Prokit is a very streetable choice and good if you want to keep your ride almost as good as stock but somewhat conservative. Tein is probably going to be more performance oriented.

Well I figure the best I could have done on Ebay out of the USA would have been $740 plus duty. There's an extra $48 built into my price because I sent back the KYB AGX's (there's a bad review online for an Accord). Also I had seized rear bolts, which I never could have dealt with if I did my own install, so if it costs a bit more to have someone familiar with tuner cars and knows what they're doing perform the work, it's worth it to me. I was also told nobody stocks that stuff in Calgary, it's all special order.
