KYB AGX vs. KYB GR2...

Are there any major differences in the stiffness of these two suspension setups? Im wondering if the GR2s feel like a 2-4 or a 3-5 setting on the AGXs. Just as long as the GR2s are a little more stiffer than stock shocks, I may lean towards just buying the GR2s. Im not THAT big on adjusting the shocks, cuz quite frankly, I dont see myself doing it a whole lot. I just need somethin to stiffen up the suspension, since Im running Neuspeed Sports on stock shocks right now.

So whatta ya guys think? Would GR2s be fine, if I'm lookin to get that stiff bounce to my suspension? Cuz I'd just looove to save at least 100 bucks buy purchasing the GR2s over the AGXs. Anyone with GR2s care to give a quick review? Thanks once again, guys!

How stiff / rough is the ride on them, compared to stock?

Well youve just about got me convinced. Now I gotta find somewhere/someone who will install for cheap, to make the GR2 deal even more convincing and cheaper.

Thanks for the help, wilp.

i have AGX's sitting in my room awaiting to be installed. The GR2s can handle a SMALL drop...say like 1.5" prokit. The reason I went with AGX's is because Im lowering the car close to 2" and the GR2 CANNOT handle that kind of severe drop....

EDIT: and BTW, I got 4 new KYB AGX's shipped to my door for $300...so dont think their $4-500 like some people say. I just found a good deal on ebay and snatched it

1. should i buy new shocks or should i keep the stock ones on there?

2. do you think that the pro-kit will close my wheel gap enough?

Your very welcome! Glad I could help! NOTE: I called KYB directly and they told me even the AGX's coudnt handle the 1.75-2" drop but plenty of members on here have Sportlines and AGX's...so I guess its all good. As far as the Tokicos go...i cant help ya there...i dont know anything about them. I just knew most members had the same setup I wanted (sportlines & Kyb Agx's) and I went with the Agx's because Ive heard no complaints.

Umm...well, with a prokit you'll roughly be lowering it 1.5" You might be able to keep your stock OEM shocks for awhile. (the ride might not be as nice and the shocks will get worn out quicker) But honestly, I havnt done that, so i really cant give you direct advice. Sorry. (i do know CL Platano had sportlines 2" drop and stock shocks for awhile...)

As far as the gap goes...I personally see CL's dropped on a prokit, and sometimes I cant even tell their lowered at all. That why I went for a sportline, i want the apperence of being lowered more noticeable. Just search and find some picts with CL's on prokit springs and compare and see if u like the looks of the gap..

My drop is about 2" all around. Maybe ill get the tokicos because they prolly handle the drop better. Im pretty rough on my car. Damn i wish someone knows.. time to post a new thread. Muchos gracias..

just do a search on Tokicos...im sure you can find/read posts from members who have them. The you could just PM those members, and you'd probably get a better & quicker responce to your question...

I've had my prokit for about three years w/ stock shocks. love the ride. not bouncy
just recently it's starting to feel a little squirely in hard corners.(but I drive hard)
this leads me to believe a couple shocks are blown. so you can ride on them for a while.
I planned on getting gr2s. are there anymore prokit/gr2 reviews?
are these the only two options?

Dre,
It all depends on what you like I have sportlines on 18's and still feel I need bigger shoes or more of a drop but that's just me. The prokit will leave you about 1.5" gap. With my sportlines I have about an inch without rubbing and driving like a maniac.

i was thnikin about getting the sportlines but someone told me that i would need the camber kit cuz it will tilt my wheels is that true or not? and on your cl are you using your stock shocks or the agx or the gr2?

If you're planning on dropping your car I would definately recommend the AGX's.

Well it kinda depends on what your setup is going to be and how much your going to drop it...

From what i remember, Platano has the Sportlines with the OEM shocks right now (unless he just got new ones i didnt hear about) One member said it looked like Platanos car was sittin lower on Sportlines and OEM shocks than the other member, who had Sportlines and AGX's.....One things for sure, if you plan on dropping close to 2" with a sportline springs, you definitly need/will need new shocks soon..

Ok...check this out..

Prokit ~ aprox. 1.5" drop (some members claim you need camber kit...other do fine w/o one. For me, I'd say its a good investment and peice of mind to have one)
You can get a SPC ball joint camber kit from Excelerate over in the "black markets vendor sales sect." His camber kits sell for around $150ish...(i just recieved mine from his yesterday, it looks great) Oh...and if you do decide to stay with the OEM shocks...your car wont handle as good as it would with upgraded shocks...

Sportlines ~ aprox. 1.75-2" drop You'll definitly need a set of new shocks. KYB AGX's are the most prefered from the members who have sportlines. The AGX's are adjustable so u can adjust the ride quality also! Yes, they are more expensive, but if your going with sportlines, your going to need them. Oh, add ontop of that a camber kit because if you drop your car that low, you'll definitly need one. (and yes, theres 2 different kinds of camber kits Excelerate sells...ones good for like a prokit drop while the other one has more range and is good for a sportline drop. Oh, and theres trick where you can just add some washers/spacers in the rear to correct the camber back there...so all you'd need would be the front camber kit)

Bottom line- If you want to be dropped more, then plan on spending more $$. I mean you could really just buy a prokit, keep the OEM shocks, and maybe or maybe not need a camber kit. (BTW: to me, i can hardly tell when a CL is dropped on a prokit, unless its parked next to another one @ OEM stock height. This is why I went for the Sportline drop.

If your looking into dropping your car close to ~1.75-2" (sportline drop) The consider this... (i just bought all this and its sitting in my room awaiting to be installed)
Sportline Springs - $85 (used on ebay...springs seem to be "ok" to buy used..)
KYB AGX's - $300 (cheapest auction i found on ebay...brand new also. DONT BUY USED SHOCKS unless you know and trust who their comming from)
SPC Camber Kit - $155 (bought from Excelerate on the boards)

Sooo if your going to drop w/ sportlines and AGX's..+ the camber kit. Be prepared to spend close to $600 before install.

Hope this helps! Good luck deciding! (If i were you, I'd spend some time looking and members car picts of prokit vs. sportline drop and set the picts side by side to compare to see what you like better.

Lastly, check out Eibach's Website. Theres a compare and contrast prokit vs. sportline interactive pict where you can see the car raise and lower. Heres the link...

(just look @ the yellow mustang and click the words "prokit" "stock" "sportline" so see the car raise and lower.)

They say I should get a camber kit but I havent noticed any increased wear on my tires as of yet or on my 17's when I took them off. To be in the safe side you should get a camber kit with a 2" or more drop but I havent seen the need for it as of yet. My Oem shocks are fine as of now and like I said earlier I drive like a maniac 100+ on the highway everyday to and from work .. The mustang won't help you too much because all cars sit and settle differently..

Yea..its just to kind of give him a rough idea... The best thing to do is definitly find other members picts and compare them from one drop to another...

Ex. If you can still find picts of Dustbusters CL...I know he had a prokit

You don't need additional struts if you have coilovers...
