what is this?????

I have been having problems with my car overheating and the temp fluctuating so I thought it might be the thermostat and changed it. That solved the problem for a while but now it seems to be leaking fluid from an area behind the engine.
I have a 3.0 if that'll help
Thanks

behind the engine? definitely could be a coolant line, but the main coolant lines are in the front, there's one that runs through the throttle body though.

I changed the main ones about a month ago that's the only thing that has me confused as to what it could be.
Ill look around more once I'm home though

So after searching for the leak I found a black box-shaped mechanism behind the engine. I removed a tube that was leading to it and it had antifrreeze in it. Does anyone know what this could possibly be

yea there should be two medium sized rubber hoses back there..thats part of the heater core and those hoses commonly dry rot...just be thankful its not leaking from the core itself.
