Whenever i have the A/C on (any form of it; from hot, cold to just defrost) i can hear a whining noise from under the hood whenever i accelerate. I have a 97 2.2 CL. I can hear the noise the most when im starting from a stopped position, but when i am going (about 50 km/h) i can still hear it when i accelerate, and for about 3 seconds after i let off the gas, then the sound goes away instantly.

I think it might be something to do with some sort of belt. Not sure though. anyone have this problem before or know what it could be?

P.S ive noticed the noise happens aswell when its been raining, but im not sure if thats jsut becuase i usually have the defroster on too. lol

 

sounds like a belt, I would change that sucker out soon.

 

lol how do i know which belt? apparently one was replaced, and the waterpump was too b/c it was easy to do at the time of the belts replacement. im not sure which belt was replaced tho. i dont know that much about cars lol
