Question Vtec solenoid problem

Hey everyone. I have a question regarding the Vtec solenoid on the first generation 2.2 cl. The little hose/wire running from the solenoid to a connector seems to be leaking oil when the Vtec is supposed to engage instead of actually engaging (I can't feel the power boost anymore either). Here is a pic of my solenoid and leaking hose (it's the hose connected to the gray connector).

Do I need to replace the solenoid? I found a site with the whole assembly for $216 or just the solenoid for $134.

P.S.
I did try using the search feature and reading the noob guide first, but I couldn't find an answer. Also, I'm fairly new to engine work, so take it easy on me please.

it's not a great pic, but the wire/hose runs from under the tan-colored solenoid the the dark gray connector. You can kinda see the oil inside the connector.

If the upper part of the VTEC solenoid is leaking oil can work its way up along that wire and wick its way to the plug. On my 2.2 the VTEC solenoid started leaking after I bought it (excessive use, I was in HS). Mine was just a quick fix of the solenoid gasket, though. But the technician that helped me fix it said that oil can wick up that wire when the solenoid is internally gone. So that may be what is happening and in that case you need to replace that upper solenoid part, if you can find it which it sounds like you have.

Thanks for sharing you're wisdom with me! It's not leaking anywhere other than through that wire, so Im thinking that you're right about the guts of the solenoid being screwed up. I'll replace the gasket while I have the solenoid off and kill 2 birds with one stone. I just thought I'd post here to see if anyone else has dealt with this problem.
